I couldn't help myself so...
I have this undying love / passion / lust for Subaru's.
I mean, so many people buy BMW's, MERC's etc... but only the rare few buy Subaru's (although, sales in SA are on the increase)
I literally cream myself when I see a nicely done up black / royal blue Scooby! :D
Are there any others here?
Any Subaru owners?
I wish I could own one... I probably will one day.
First thing I'll do is get it decaled like the actual WRC cars... OMG!!!!!!!! :D
I like the bug eyed one, but germanised:p
All the others suck!!:p
A couple of guys on this forum own Foresters iirc. I'm very disappointed with the new Impreza, and for the first time, I'd take an Evo over an STi. EVO 10 FTW!
Ye the new one is just:sick:
Dont think Subaru will do well with it TBH.

There is a specific blue & gold one around my area in Wynberg, Cape Town. Never heard such an aggressive roaring Scooby before. The turbo has this sweet clear high pitched whirr, something you wouldn't expect from that grumbling engine.
Anyone know what mods could have been done? Sounds totally different to an un-modded one.

There is a specific blue & gold one around my area in Wynberg, Cape Town. Never heard such an aggressive roaring Scooby before. The turbo has this sweet clear high pitched whirr, something you wouldn't expect from that grumbling engine.
Anyone know what mods could have been done? Sounds totally different to an un-modded one.
Err did you happen to see where the exhaust was?

all u ever wanna know of a scooby.
a modded scoob, dont take a hiding from a car twice his price. around a mountain, u dont get a better car. All i can say is AWD = drive 1 and u will c, its All you'll Drive
The only Scooby I've ever driven are the ones in Forza 2. :D

Scoobies are ok I guess, but the ultimate Jap car is undoubtedly the Skyline GT-R. If they brought them to SA, I'd take one without thinking about it!

I guess you could say that the Lancer competes with Impreza, but neither are really in the same league as the GT-R or the Honda NSX.

The 2.0l engine is not for our market, we get the 2.5l its something to do with the spec, we get the European spec. what that means I am not actually sure, but thats what the salesman told me.

I have to admit, I liked it too.:)
Subaru is a great car, and in the right hands, bloody quick. However, I get the feeling that most of the owners are posers that have watched The Fast and Furious one too many times.:D
With those massive turbos, the turbo lag must be hell to deal with under normal driving though. I would buy the STi for track days and the Legacy for everyday driving, IF I had the cash.

I agree it is not easy on the eyes, but hey this is a Subaru! They can get away with it. The back looks cool, and thats what most drivers would see of the car.:D
Buddy had to almost pay R40k to fix his engine, luckily it was found to be not his fault it blew. Would have been a nasty one to pay for.

Dude, Check out the Subaru forum. No posers, only guys passionate about cars. And yes some of these guys have alot of cash, so its somthing new on the car every month.
Mine is a 2000 Impreza GT with a 2.5 Sti sub. Had it for allmost 2 years now and has been "standing" for not less that 18months. Got it back in begin of Des 2007 and on the 12 Des broke the gearbox on the dyno.
No money, so no running Scooby.:(

Ye I do, from the 3 scoobys, the first ones nice but very Toyota, the last one is to in your face, huge bumpers, huge air intake, to big and gawdy.
The Bug eyed has all the attributes of a racer but done tastefully.
My opinion of course.

Probably a pro drive exhaust system and a God zilla waste gate and dump valve!!

I owned two Subaru Brat 1600's (http://www.subdriven.com/news/uploads/Features/3_1982_brat.jpg). The first was a 4x4. Best cars I have ever owned. Never seen one in SA before.

To all the Evo lovers: go to youtube, and there is a vid (20mb) of the old and new STi vs Evo.
All I can say is that the new STi does 1/4 mile in 12.9. The Evo will be there in a while...
Dont even bother mentioning the slalom test...
