Before this loadshedding spell, I remember that there were always people saying we need to be careful what we invest in as power stations go up.
With the usual arguments, "where are we going to be storing spent fuel" Or coal burning is harmful to the enviroment, etc
Now there is just silence, people don't care how it's done just as long as it gets done. :D

What about those who were protesting against nuclear plants? :D

Speaking in general here, but I honestly can't see what problem nuclear power plants could create. There's more plusses than minuses with nuclear energy, and how it can be utilised.

Where?
I must have missed them. Or they were buried by all the outrage of the outages.:D

I guess some people still think it'll go up like an atom bomb just because it has the word 'nuclear' in it :D

I'm right here and staunchly anti-nuke, if that makes me a "tree-hugger".
Obviously one wants power in ways least harmful to the environment, but for me coal-burning is OK to get us out of the crisis.
What I don't get is how anyone trusts this bunch ( govt/eskom ) with nukes when they have so clearly demonstrated their incompetence by leading us into this mess.

Exactly.
An organisation that cannot manage to get enough coal to fuel their coal stations, cannot be trusted with nuclear waste.
EDIT: For the record, I prefer nuclear to anything else non-renewable. Just not for SA.

Of course, some of my treehugging friends are now claiming that's it's all a conspiracy to silence any opposition to nuclear power.
