As a family man this was always a dream of mine ... finally BMW has seen the sense in launching it in SA.

Love the ending of this article :) " ...With the practicality those extra doors afford, you can now scare your daughter's teenage boyfriends silly on the Tuesday night mall pick-up-and-go run too. Priceless really..."

The RS4 never did it for me ... I have always been a BMW fan.

Now to endure the painfully long waiting list.... :(

Nice man, can I ask what is the point in buying a performance family car?

To each his own - I guess.

Are you married? With kids? (Don't answer) ... well if you are and you wanted always wanted to drive an M3 you will know where I am coming from. This is the easiest thing to swing past your wife cos it has a decent boot and four doors ... and once you have dropped the kids off at school, you can drive the ***** out of it.

I just love wolves in sheeps clothing. And this is one mean wolf!

Eh. An M3 with 4 doors is a waste of 2 doors.

agreed - she is hotter in a coupe .... but impractical.

The only M that should have 4 doors is an M5.
That way you can show mom, the kids and grandma what 0-100 in 5 seconds feels like. The seats are leather too, so any resulting poop can be easily brushed off.

4 Doors on the M3 just looks stupid. It's already hard to distinguish it from other 3-series models; now it just looks like a 3-series with an Sport-Kit added on.

Agreed.

But I'm more partial to the C 63 AMG myself. Just working on affording one now.:D

It was only a matter of time wasn't it..? ;)

I like the idea. I've always had my eyes on a Lumina as a family sedan. Or a Mazda6 mps. Spacious, comfortable, gut wrenching performance. Perfect family vehicle. :D

Did you see the real prices on the BMW site? Just over R700k for the top of the range one.

Mazda 6 MPS is, IMO a much more sensible choice than an M3 sedan.

so it may take longer than expected to "work on affording it". :D

Nah, RS4 for me thanks. When you look at it, you know that it's an RS4. When you look at this, it looks like what could be some guy in a 320i who couldn't afford an M3 so he went Brakpan on it and added every piece of kit he could find.

Hence my comment ... wolf in sheeps clothing.

Call me old fashioned but I like things slightly conservative. The pics don't do justice to it though. I checked out one in Germany and it really did it for me.

I was also considering the AMG ... awesome car! I must say.

You two need to take some reality medicine, or at least you do JK8....

Citi with a 2.0l engine taking on a 450kw+ Lumina and winning, that I would pay money to see...

You do get citi's that own super cars, but they are heavily modded.
But we all know these cars (citis) have the worst chassis, suspension and car build so they dont last long. Interior is as crap as you can get.
Only a FOOL compares these cars to mid-super cars.

Congrats ssd. Careful not to wrap it around a pole in the first week.

Of course the 2 door version looks better, but its not always going to be feasible given the family situation. For that situation the 4 door is an excellent choice.:)

I like it, always liked the 4 door super sedans over the 2 door models, more practical.

A year ago the RS4 was in a class of its own, good to see some good competition now in the form of C63 & the new 4d M3.

So long as you don't drive it like a nana I doubt the M3 is any more heavy on the fuel as any other large sedan.
