Does anyone know a place in Cape Town that could do a decent job of fitting a 7" LCD into the dash of my S2000? I'd like to do this and run the cable to underneath the passenger seat to a CarPC.

I can then connect that to GPS, the OBII Connector, AMP, etc....

I need some respectible that isn't going to screw up the dash, or the wires behind it, someone that'll take responsibilty for their work, I can get the LCD myself...

I wonder if Hi-Fi Corp are any good? I was thinking of getting them to fit a screen into my car.
They charge R440 (iirc) for a roof mount and 2 or 3 hundred for a dash mount.

They'll send you to an installer, AFAIK they don't do it themselves.

My installation requires cutting away at the dash, hence the concern, here's an example from S2KI (http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=142163&st=175):

I see your predicament. For my car it is just matter mounting the screen to the roof, I would do it myself but I am not sure how to run the wires. I guess that it would involve removing one of the side pillar covers and part of the roof lining, I can just see myself messing that up nicely :(

That Honda is a nice car btw.

There's a place at N1 City, right next to Hi Q that does good work.
Can't remember the name now.

I'll want to get the LCD myself though, I need a special one thats sunlight visible, don't think I'd be able to get it locally.

Seriously doubt it. At least not the Plumstead branch. :p

Look up "Fastcar" and go speak to them about it. Branch in Kenilworth and Maitland.

Radio Autosonic :)

Noooooooo, don't do. They ****ed up an install for me before.

You in Jozi or CT?

If you're in CT go to a place on Blauwberg main road called Loud And Clear. Speak to a guy named Mark and tell him exactly what you want. I've had good experiences there and have seen a few awesome installs come out of that shop.

Eish, why do you want to put a screen into your car? :(

Make sure you find a good installation guy, messing with the dash can leave you with alot more unwanted rattles.

Satelite Navigation/Music/OBII Connector.

Went and saw Musical Cars in Wynberg, they're suggesting molding something specifically for the dash instead of cutting...

Thats a better option. Also when it comes to selling the car, you can take the screen out without leaving a large gash in the dash.

They're still going to have to drill holes in the dash for mounting and cabling (I think)

Radio Autosonic can do neat work, go to the one in Durban Rd. Speak to Fritz, that’s if he still works there. I'll check tomorrow. We used to do competitions together.

Just remember: Good Job = Time & Money.

Someone else at work also recommended them today...

Money is not an issue, as long as it's reasonable... Time might be, I don't want to be without my car for long... I've been without it for a week already :(

Ask Fritz if you can borrow his M6, but I don't think so. He might have an corsa bakkie you can use.

I've seen than M6 standing outside Radio Autosonic in Durban Road. Is there so much money to be made in a Radio Autosonic?
