I'm looking to test a new application I've created that allows you to send any file on your pc or mobile phone to another phone. I've just added support for vodacom and need users in South Africa to help test the application.
If you're interested in helping check out my web site below and let me know if it works.

Best use case is if you have music on your computer that you'd like to send to your phone or if you have a file on your phone that you would like to send to a friend's phone and dont want to use your mms.
Wapxchange uses the data and sms gateway to deliver the files so you need data on your phone for it to work.
What protections have you got in place to prevent the spreading of malware to cellphones?
PS: Welcome to MyBroadband :).

Bluetooth is only good when you are not close to each other... Another (virtually free) alternative is email...

Or MMS.
Then again MMS has its limitations.

Correct, bluetooth only works if you're in close proximity. As for MMS, its not always reliable across carriers or devices. Additionally most carriers limit the type of files you can send via MMS. Try sending an MP3 with MMS. As for email, unless you have a blackberry enterprise server I dont believe you can send attachments from your phone to another phone. As for email from a PC to a phone I dont believe the SMTP gateway (the protocal used to make this process possible) supports file attachments.
Can someone try the send service out to a vodacom phone and let me know if it works in SA? While you're at the site there are plenty of free ringtones and wallpaper to download - all which have been sent over the system.

Who told you this crap? I frequently send files (including mp3s, jpeg, and office docs) to my father in law. He uses various phones including sony w850 (cant open docs for obvious reasons named java phone) but on any of his symbian phones he can open it... He can even receive attachments via email on his outdated sony ericsson T300 which is about 6 years ol if not more

Before you can receive or send files from your mobile phone or pc to a vodacom mobile phone via wapxchange, Vodacom requires you register with their email service. Attached is the URL
http://www.gvrhapp7.vine.co.za/vodacomSmsEmailService/Register.do
this is why some peole might be having trouble with the send feature.
