Any idea of where I can get a copy of Ubuntu in the bedfordview area?
No bandwidth left, and not enough time to order one by mail.

I'm in Kensington - PM me if you want to make a plan. Got both ubuntu and kubuntu 7.10, if that's what you need.

Or, the last time I was at Matrix computers in the Park Meadows centre I saw they had discs there.

Join Jawug! Lots of coverage in Kensington, and Bedfordview (Jawug's original birthplace is Kensington) and download Ubuntu at high speed! :D

Yeah, when I moved here I checked the jawug coverage - looks like there won't be a problem. Now just need to sort out my finances so I can get connected.

Well, Paddy popped by and we swopped some ubuntu CDs for a sixpack.

So you see, it is free as in beer. :)

Thanks for not doing the happy dance. :)

Was thinking - if you're not going to have an internet connection, then maybe the one disc that I didn't give you might be more useful. It is a DVD that came with Linux Format: 8GB of ubuntu and lots and lots of packages already installed. I found it too much, but it might be useful in your situation.

It depends though, what you'll be doing. If you need word processing, email, internet and media, then any of kubuntu/ubuntu or mint will do that for you.

Just FYI guys, we have a couple of Linux Repo's on the WUG (Ubuntu, Debian, Arch)

(No internet required!)

The Freedom Toaster is an outstanding idea. Original concept with practical effect. South Africa needs more of them everywhere. Then we can use our Gigs for other purposes :)

Outstanding idea, not so outstanding in practise :(
