You should know by now that everyone blames Eskom for everything these days! Even the US recession! :)

That's what I had to do yesterday, well not bowling specifically, but I was sitting at home surfing away on the net being a lazy bugger when the power went off. I knew I had two hours with no computer or TV so I was forced to get in my car, go to the nearest shopping centre and spend money.... looking back this load shedding may in fact be good for the economy, or bad, as it is forcing us to get out and spend money! :)

So load shedding is responsible for the increasing inflation too:p

We had to get water from a hotel just to have a bath:o

Water will only be back at 9 pm .

Because of load shedding yesterday they have to wait for water to fill up today before restoring supply

I gave the call centre lady hell a few minutes ago even though it is not her fault :o. She eventually gave me her manager's number, but I didn't even bother - probably on voice mail.

We've had load shedding in our area for 2 hours every second day - I wonder how the reservior is low after pumping for the other 46 hours out of 48. Anyone using massive amounts of water in the middle of the night?

Strangely we didn't have any water problems in Jan / Feb when we had much more load shedding.

This absolutely sucks .

Us Natalians should be thankful... other provinces are getting four hours a day!

And it is usually scant consolation but things could be a lot worse... I saw a newspaper headline today saying some town in Natal has been without water for weeks....

How the F... do they expect people to live without water?

Their lazy ass beaches of manager's idea of a contingency plan is sending out water tankers - so you have to take your geyser and loo tank to the street to get it filled now?

Telephone, electricity, water - is there any service this guavamint can't turn into dust?

It is at times likes these that you wish you were rich or could emigrate or both.

Stupid martha farkers

OK now you have just taken this the same way as all the other government bashing threads on here! Pity you initially had a genuine complaint now you are just b_tching.

For as long as I can remember we'd be without water for a day or so while they did maintenance or repairs. These things happen. You are dealing with things that corrode and age with time and failures are bound to happen.

Could I ask you what you would like them to do besides send out tankers? And don't reply by saying ensure things don't go wrong to start with otherwise I will refer you to my paragraph above.

By the way, where there is a will there is a way. If you really wanted to leave you could make a plan.

So the guy isn't allowed to vent about being denied an essential service?
Does that make him "the enemy" too?
You're sounding more and more like that infamous Iraqi "Information Minister" with every post, leaving insoluble-in-reason droppings in every thread deemed negative enough to trip your hair-trigger sensitivities.

I was quite happy to chat along when he mentioned the water problem he was having. It was his last post which all of a sudden turned into an attack on the government and mention of emigration. And it is not even the main "guvamint" (as you all like to call it) that would be to blame here but his local or provincial government.

So what if you do not have water for a day? I bet it happens all over the world. Or do you think the piping or pumps they use does not corrode or need replacing and repair?

And I was chatting on here before my last post so please do not try to accuse me of coming in specifically with the intention of "leaving droppings" as you so kindly call it. You on the other hand only appeared once I had posted my last post, so perhaps you are the Iraqi minister?

Show me a single post where I've used the moniker "guavamint". Tilt at windmills if you must, but try and get the direction correct first.

So what if you do not have water for a day? I bet it happens all over the world. Or do you think the piping or pumps they use does not corrode or need replacing and repair?

The OP stated that "load-shedding" was given as the reason. Trying to detract attention from that with banal rhetoric and "it happens all over the world" amounts to nothing because we live here.

And I was chatting on here before my last post so please do not try to accuse me of coming in specifically with the intention of "leaving droppings" as you so kindly call it.

The term "chatting" is an overly optimistic take on the proffering of inane platitudes about the U.S. recession etc.

If you actually read my post it says "...leaving insoluble-in-reason droppings in every thread deemed negative enough to trip your hair-trigger sensitivities".
In other words, there are other posts too, e.g.:
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?p=1652248#post1652248

Unlike you, I am actually able to back up my "accusations".

You on the other hand only appeared once I had posted my last post, so perhaps you are the Iraqi minister?

Hmm, lemme consider that. Nope, it's still you.

....

The same way you can take your time compiling your smart little replies, so to can I continue to post a comment when I object to something that is said. In fact not very dissimilar to what you did in this thread.... except that my view is not yours. Perhaps that is your problem...

And as for the link to another post of mine, thanks, but I obviously have seen it before. You bringing that thread up appears to demonstrate that there too you have taken offence to the fact that my view on the matter differed from yours. In fact I note that a few people held my view so I was not alone.

My "smart little replies" are my view. Apparently I'm entitled to one and even to share it publicly. I'm even up for an exchange of views and discourse. You, apparently are not, and all your replies are simply reinforcing my original post in this thread.

10pm and not a drop of water in sight:(.

I suggest you reread my previous posts;)

Can you please explain to me how a reservoir can get empty if the pump is down a mere 2hours out of 48? Managers are supposed to do just that - manage a situation - if they did any planning at all they would have ensured there was backup power to avoid this situation [if the reasons they give are correct - which I think is absolute BS:sick:]

Also, only certain areas are affected:confused:

Strange how the people who pay for water don't have any right now and those who are getting it free do:rolleyes:.

By the way, where there is a will there is a way. If you really wanted to leave you could make a plan.

Someone else with the view that if you complain about a lack of service delivery you must leave:rolleyes:

A legitimate complaint would be if you permanently had no access whatsoever to running water...

According to the United Nations' World Health Organization (WHO) more than one billion people in low and middle-income countries lack access to safe water for drinking, personal hygiene and domestic use. These numbers represent more than 20 percent of the world’s people.

Yours was a complaint, which I acknowledge, but it is definitely far from the end of the world as we know it!

We finally got water sometime after 11pm.

Why must we shift the goal posts when it comes to service delivery? Suddenly when there is screw up because of inadequate planning we must compare ourselves to a third world country without water but when it comes to other issues such as the Soccer World Cup we present ourselves as a capable first world country.

Wouldn't the billions being spent on the stadia be better spent on solving our existing problems such as the load shedding which is having a rippling effect?

I have 3600 odd post - please sift through them find any other post where I got on a soap box and started bleating about emigration - I am not that type of person. The reason I got really pissed was because we were not informed, and with typical incompetence from the local government side an avoidable situation was not avoided.

I say incompetence because after my first call, according to the call centre water supply was supposed to return at 5pm. Second call, this changed to 9pm. And water was only restored after 11pm.

The person[s] handling this situation did not know:

how big the reservoir is;
how fast it will fill up;
how long it would take to fill up

The bottom line is they had no clue and no plan:sick:.

We have never experienced such a long outage of water during the day. If they do maintenance during the day it is only for a couple of hours. If a longer period is required it is done during the night.

If we continue to blindly support the guavamint regardless of service delivery and choose to see everything through rose-tinted glasses we will end up like Zimbabwe. If we are unhappy about something, it is better for us to complain about it so perhaps in future they can take more appropriate steps to remedy the situation and bring the standards of service to that of a real first world country.

This all said by the man who did not bother phoning the manager but merely took it all out on the first person who answered the phone. That is my point, moaning is is all good and well, but at least try to ensure that your moaning is reaching the ears of the correct person, otherwise I am afraid it is merely moaning and is not solving any of the perceived problems.

By the way if you wonder why I often take umbrage to what is being said it is the indiscreet use of words like "rose tinted glasses" and in other instances blind and ostrich. If my view differs from yours it does not make me blind. In fact it may be you that is blinded by the situation you have been "subjected" to. Blinded by anger.

No need to worry about the correct people hearing about my complaints - I'm working on it. I'll keep you posted ;)

Back on topic....

I wonder if any other areas are affected in the same way? It would be interesting to see if loadshedding is a legitimate problem when it comes to filling resevoirs (which I doubt) or if they are trying to "hide" another problem.....
