- eating 6 meals a day is good - eat lots of small meals.
- never replace a meal with a drink
- 65kgs - thats a little light don t you think. and your also pushing losing 1kg/week.
what in gym are you planning on doing. if you put on mucsle mass your weight will increase as it weighs more than fat.
what's your % body fat?

Is it too much to lose 1kg a week? Well at gym I do the following:
1 Hour of cardiology (20 mins on treadmill; 20 mins on bicycle; 20 mins on orbtrek)
1 Hour of basic toning, this includes peck deck, etc.
I think my body fat is 22%?
I want to reach 65kg's so I can start to build up from that

It will probably work... but why do you want to lose so much?
I would say around 70 to 75 should be ok.
the other factor to consider is that unless you make this new meal style your lifetime habit you will not keep the weight off. In order to keep it off you need to adjust your habits and eat healthy.
Make sure you include a lot of roughage and fiber in your meals.
You will lose weight much faster if you cut out all sugars.

your body fat is within the normal range - why do you want to loose weight?
you plan on doing 2 hours of gym a session!!!! Not a good idea at all.

linoman - unless you are a 3 foot tall woman - eating 900 calories a day will seriously damage your metabolism - although you will lose weight - the moment you eat normally again - you will gain 4 times what you've lost -
For a healthy male - you should aim to eat at least 1800 calories a day - preferably 2000 - it also depends how much fat you have atm.
Losing 1KG a week is quite possible - all it means is that every week you need to eat 9000 less calories than you burn.
The normal daily requirement for a healthy 20 year old is approximately 2800 - 3200 calories - by eating 1800 calories a day - you will burn 7000 calories a week. Make sure the extra 2000 gets burnt by doing excersice.
You want to also ensure that twice a week - i.e. 3 days perfect eating (1800 calories a day - 1 day 2800 calories a day - to ensure your metabolism stays working and ends up working faster - you do not want to stay at 1800 calories a day for too long - your body will be damaged doing so .
While losing 30kg's of fat you will also lose LBM (lean body mass) and you want to try and build that back up - remember that to lose fat you need a calory deficit - to build muscle you need a calory surpluss - doing both at the same time is very difficult.
Your excercise should be primarily cardio - and combined with some weight training to prevent significant LBM loss.
Your best bet would be to get a body stat done - determines the % of fat you have currently and based on that - you can work out your correct diatary requirements - also work into the formulae your body type (i.e. endomorph - ectomorph - mesomorph )
Hope that helps - :P

65 is not much... than ur just skin and bones with no muscles... just make sure ur not pushing the limits and ur fine. You can always talk to a person that does theses eating plans for a living and together with a gym trainer u can work something out that works best for u

Not enough calories. 90kg->65kg should be doable with a less harsh approach if you stick to it.
Wow, I didn't expect so many of you to respond to this thread. Thanks guys, I must admit all the advice is seriously over whelming. To answer some of the questions.
1) I want to lost a lot of weight so that I can go down to skin and bones and then build up muscle and definition from there.
2) I am a guy not a girl thingie:D
3) I used to do weight training and then I stopped and guess what it all turned into ugly fat, I really want to lost all of that.. Not build from the fat up.
4) No my girl friend aka mxit chick is not making me do this. What is though is the fact I am sick and tired of struggling with my weight like I have for the past year. I no longer want to be a statistic on the obesity scale.

ok so your going to consume 900 calories and only burn off 500? that does not sound right
i have lost 8kgs in about 3 months
i cannot see how anyone can possibly drop 1kg a week
2 of the most important factors in weight loss is eating a decent breakfast like special k and drinking alot of water
do not starve your body because it will have the reverse effect when u eat normally as someone mentioned
also if your trying to lose weight why are you spending so much time toning, rather spend 2 hours a day on cardio
1 hour in the morning and an hour at night
eat well, dont starve your body
light rye bread from spar is very good for you
salad is very good you and gives your body what it needs
eat alot of fruit, dont eat to many grapes as its got the highest content of sugar
basically carbs are not your friend and cut any big carb foods such as bread potatoes
what i have learnt in the last 3 months is burn off more than you put into your body but allow your body to still get everything it needs

To add some more:

If your trying to do 900 calories a day your going to run serious risk of organ damage.
From this site from your specs for extreme weight loss you need around 1600 calories a day.

Here's another good one - the amount of calories for different types of food:

to lose weight you need to be healthy, so do the following.
Eat 6 times a day
Drink water, not during meals though.
Eat the right foods, stay away from fatty stuff like eggs(the yellow bit) anything deepfried. Go easy on the carbs at night. Eat nuts!
Dont starve yourself, you'l only become a skinny angry negative dude:D
As for cardio, do your normal stuff but throw in high impact 2 days a week. Do 10 mins on machine of choice at 40% effort level, then for the next 10 mins alternate between one minute of 90% effort and one of 40%. Of course if you can 20mins at 90% is best;)
Dont stop the toning, just do a full body workout 3 times a week. Focus on lower weight with higher reps. When you train big muscle groups they keep using energy well after you walked out of the gym. So train them right and you burn calories as you sleep..

My goal weight is 90 (although that might be pushing it). I'm currently at 106kg, height of 178cm - around 17% body fat. Losing weight is a mission :( I was at 113kg a few months back; I've tried in the past, made it down to around 100kg, but then just somehow put it back on again :(
Right now I probably eat around 1500 calories a day and drink 3 litres of water. I don't exercise though (don't really have time), and my job consists of sitting on my ass in front of a pc.
Any suggestions on how I could lose the extra weight? Let me guess; exercise?
Right now I eat a yogurt smoothie for breakfast, some Vitasnacks at around 10am, 6 corn crackers with sugar-free peanut butter for lunch, and then a full-ish supper consisting of something like roast chicken and rice, or steak, or pasta. I also drink on average 3 or 4 cups of coffee a day, however I do not eat sugar, at all.
Sorry to hijack your thread, Linoman :D But I'd also quite like to lose a few. One thing you seem to have that I don't is the determination.

kas go buy yourself an orbitrek man
1.6k dont buy the 3999 version unless you have 4k to spend
you can do 20-30 minutes in front of the tv in your house and dont need to go to gym
you cannot tell me that you cannot find 30 minutes in the morning and evening to do this
it in your house, easy to use and no need to go to a gym
if you eating healthy then losing weight this way should be easy
kas yogurt aint the best thing for losing weight
go buy special k and blend it with skim milk :)
try substitute coffee with Milo
try eating more fruit and salad as well
remember Fat is not always the problem with weight as your body actually needs fat
carbs are your problem as to many carbs turns in fat as far as i know
believe this or not sugar is not a problem as well as your body needs energy
carbs are the devil and you should inspect everything you eat and see how many carbs they contain
now obviously im not saying to much fat is good but the right amount is not bad :), its alot better than way to many carbs

I could find the time to exercise, but the issue is that I am *lazy* :D
Yogurt is one of the few things I can actually eat, so I think I will keep it. I can't eat yeast, most fruit, sugar, anything with mold (cheese), mayo, and so on. So my diet is very limited to begin with. Don't get many carbs anyway, considering my lack of yeast-intake.
Everyone here wants to lose weight. I want to gain it :D
I'm 1.86M tall, and weight 59KG. Underfed/malnutrition if you ask me.
Any diet, training programme for me? Help anyone!!!!:D

Good luck to everyone else who wants to lose weight. After reading through the posts from all your guys I am going to adjust my daily calorie intake between 900 and 1500 per a day.
Since yesterday I lost 1 kg, I now weigh 89kg, anyone want to tell me how that's possible? Yes I know it could be water but I did drink about 2 liters yesterday

Linoman, please listen to the peeps above who advise against a very low calorie diet. If you really are eating less than 1500 calories (maybe you're not counting properly - easy to fool yourself), you WILL suffer medical problems.
To get to your current weight you've been eating close to 3000 calories per day. To loose sensible you MUST eat at least 1800 calories per day. More if you exercise. Aim for 20/40/40 F/P/C, 6 meals a day, 300 calories a pop.
The idea to first loose everything and then build up is not quite right. If you're at 22% body-fat (I slightly doubt it :)), you would've lost a fair amount of muscle to get to 65Kg.
Rather loose weight WHILE you do resistance training. You can loose as much, if not more, fat while doing resistance training than just doing cardio. Do cardio 3 times a week (M,W,F), weight training 3 times a week (T, T, S). Don't over exercise.
Forget the scale and aim for something like 15% body-fat but make sure you measure it properly. Once you've achieved that, decide if you like what you see (you will) and take it from there.
Again, 900 calories will kill you and 1500 calories put you on par with a 50Kg young girl.
Your single most important tool is a 100% accurate food log.
