Ive been playing a bit with partitions and I am left with a pc that boots but just goes straight to grub. It wont even boot off a dvd because grub has taken over. I just get the command line so how to get rid of grub (forever)?

What exactly are you wanting to boot into? Linux or Windows?

you must have changed something in your BIOS regarding the boot order of devices. If you have your bios set to load from the DVD/CD drive before the hard drives there is no way that grub will load before the CD/DVD in your drive.

it does. the bios is set to go to cd first but grub loads straight away.
i was dual-booting and just want windows back.
i will try fdisk.

And will grub let you load any OS?

if you were originally dualbooting what did you do that makes it not possible to load into Windows if grub loads?
