Hi guys

Interested in distributed computing - join the cause and help find some intelligent life out there - how about this for a brainstorm - lets make more of an impact and create a group for MyADSL.

Come on guys, lets use those idle processes out there - goto http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu if ur interested. And as far as this group goes, if we get some decent response, we'll call it MyADSL Forum in honour of rpm :)

For an even better cause, goto www.google.com and check out the distributed computing section on DNA analysis

I think we have established that there is very little intelligent life on our own planet. We should rather focus our search for intelligent life on this planet (starting with a new minister of communication). [:D]

Was the Seti group created?

I searched for "myadsl" and only got "No results found."

I thought we'd get some interested people to talk here and then take steps. So far I've had only these responses, and 1 disappeared. I'll be monitoring though and when we've got a decent amount of guys interested, I'll do the dirty deed....... by the by, I'm sitting on 31 Data units so far, how u guys doing?

Idle CPU time, I'd offer all I have. But sorry, I have to be REALLY stingy with my network traffic. I have to pace myself as it is, unfortunately, if I want to make it through the month.

paf - I was involved with this a few years back and the lekka thing was that you download a datapack - process it and only upload the results. Unless they have changed the way they do things the traffic is minimal if I remember corectly....

traffic is tiny something like 300kb every day or so

Good going, 75 myself - I've tried to create the MyADSL group with no luck - keeps asking me for username and password which wasn't given to me - wth??? I've sent an e-mail requesting that a group be created for us and I'll let you know of the reply - Oh well, lets keep our logs here in the mean time.

I joined Seti@home about a week ago, will pitch in. (I had nearly 5000 units on the old pre-BOINC system :/ ... but starting from scratch now.)

Some other interesting distributed computing projects:
http://folding.stanford.edu/
http://climateprediction.net/

(If it's BOINC-based you can join more than one, and split your CPU time between multiple projects.)

Yes I know that this is an old thread, but how many forum members know about the My ADSL Forum Team?

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/team_display.php?teamid=45357

Perhaps it is time to update the name, and recruit a few more members?

Haven't heard about Seti@home for a while. A utility SETI Spy was written by Roelof, a school & varsity friend of mine. He unfortunately passed away a couple of years ago from liver cancer.

I see SETI@home now has a BOINC plugin/addon.

I hope you realize that your PC is going to be using far more electricity, running flat out instead of idling/sleeping.
