So rather ironically a few minutes after creating a MyBB biker group (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/group.php?groupid=14) I decided I should post about my first car.. :o

OK it's not 100% my car :o .. it's only half mine and half my brothers, we run a partnership business so this is really a work car.. :)

Toyota Hilux SRX (http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/showphoto.php?photo=3879&size=big&cat=500) 2.0 litre (not diesel) ... We got it last Thursday and we've already put 1200 km on the clock! First work trip was to George this week (and a bit further) .. next week it's East London and soon thereafter, Cape Town.. yah we travel a lot.. :)

It's a very nice ride, but it's also a very thirsty one.. the first time we filled up was R550.00 and the tank was not empty!

I would really have preferred for it to be a nice touring bike.. But hey sometimes you just have to use a car. :o

Maybe next time it's gonna be a new bike.. :D

:o

I operate by biker instincts.. if it has 4 wheels then it's a car.. :p ;)

Oh all right.. make that, "my first bakkie" ;)

Nice choice for tax and rebates. Also good choice for reliability.

Yah, they can be thirsty, not quite a R6 on fuel eh??

Enjoy it, look after it (unless you make too much money ans are looking to reduce net profits with repairs:))

Good luck with it, now watch the fuel bills climb as you want to travel at 150km/h between towns he he

Good luck.

Ps what business you in???

Yeah good for tax. ditto on reliability, can't go wrong with a Toyota.. :)

If we were making too much money we'd have bought a more expensive bakkie.. :D

Yah.. we'll have to watch that speedo needle.. Sits very comfortably at 140.. ;)

Good luck.

Thanks!

I'd rather not state it publicly.. :o
It's very unusual, rare enough that 2 minutes on Google will produce all my contact details.. :o - not that I'm paranoid per se, just defies the purpose of an anonymous forum. :)

I'm not too worried.. ;)
Have actually been to Cape Town a fair amount of times without any incident.. :)

In fact of all the places I've traveled I only once experienced a vehicle break in and that was in East London!

Eish! Oh dear..

Note to self: Do not stop moving in Cape Town..

Well it does have a "anti smash and grab" covering on the windows, forget what it's called but it's supposed to be a bit like shatterproof windows (i.e., very hard to break).. :)

Thanks tera!
Congrats on your PC too! ;)

I'm quite happy to share a car for now...
Resources are sufficiently down enough to prevent me from getting another for quite some time.. ;)
