I would like to post this thread to the members of this forum as your'e the guys out in the field.

I currently use a loadbalancer/firewall app (called Pfsense).

I now want to setup a transparent proxy. Currently, I have squid setup and running fine as a normal proxy (using webmin) but now I want to set it up as a transparent proxy.

I have been battling with the setup and config as I need to configure a DMZ etc etc..

SO.. I'm looking for a company/person in JHB ( Rivonia area) that would setup squid on the DMZ with the relevant reporting engines etc as well as show me how it works an dis setup should I need to in the future.

Please lemme know who you would suggest / recommend for this task.

Thanks !

Hi there

Have your tried reading on pfSense's forums?

I've only played lightly with the distro, and while it is pretty good, I think it suffers the problem of being more enterprise orientated, so is not as easy to use as Smoothwall or IpCop for that matter. However, it does do features that neither of those 2 can do.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but good luck. Hopefully their forums will give you the answer.

Linux support/setup companies: I dont have much time as I used to do all my own Linux server configuration so it will be great to know if there are companies in SA which can provide this kind of support.

But let me not derail this thread :)

I know of only one reseller/support type company called Obsidian systems. But they do RedHat and AFAIK, pfsense is BSD based. Not sure if they can help but its worth a try.

Hey, if you still need someone doing this for you, let me know :)

I'm in Edenvale so Rivonia isn't too far from here
