I think you'll get more GB's out of the unlimited one.

I will migrate to that one if it's uncapped with no free minutes/sms.

I wait until they offer broadband, none of the are, just fast internet.

I think I'll wait for their WiMax offering.
Are these packages available on a month to month basis, i.e. not a 24 month contract?

No, but you can "pull out of" the contract, and just be left with the R80 per month hardware purchase cost.

They punting July for WiMax. Hopefully they are getting better at meeting their own deadlines :D

I'll consider a package with an ethernet enabled unit.

None. Would love the umlimited option, but there's no way in hell I'm paying 1000 a month for internet.

I would probably pay R1000 a month for fixed line, uncapped, unshaped, high speed Internet, but not for CDMA. I personally need Speed and a reasonable amount of bandwidth so if I had to choose I would go with NeoConnect Prime 15GB – 2.4Mbps. But I would want low latency and a guaranteed minimum line speed. I agree with those who are waiting for the WiMax or fibre services. If you just want to use torrents or other download services, where speed is less of an issue, then go with NeoConnect Lite Unlimited – 156 Kbps.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes for them to introduce soft caps, as Telkom has bread a culture of leaching, rather than fair access, in this country so we tend to use what we can get rather than what we need.

None of them - what about high usage home users? I require speed AND use a lot of bandwidth - on average 30 to 40 GB a month. Their "unlimited" or uncapped offering is still too expensive if you compare to the rest of the world.
I will change when they offer something like 2.4Mbps connectivity with a 50 GB (local and international) or uncapped offering for around R500 a month. Bugger all the Neotel to Neotel free calls and SMS's. Not interested.
I hope somebody from Neotel actually reads these forums - it's a real good place for them to do their marketing research and to find out what SA actually wants.

+1
I'm not interested in all the other carp as well. Make a DSL offering with 50GB traffic for R500 a month and I'll sign up in no time.
I agree with the above, I've had wireless twice and I HATE it. However, the unlimited is really tempting for me but I really just want cable.

Totally agree with above..
Must confess I'm disgruntled by their offerings. You know what we need / want. I for one aren't interested in the sms's and calls they bundle with it, to make their higher prices seem reasonable ?
I don't even call people on their land line numbers anymore.
Turn out that they're not going to be our knight in shining armor...
Boo!

Oh goodness, quoted from Neotel site.
"There is ongoing debate about the definition of broadband in South Africa, though the country's regulator (ICASA) has recently promulgated regulations terming it to be a connection with a download speed of more than 256 kbit/s."

you will get things faster off int then any news server and there will be a whole lot more to dl
ps...
when i mean you will get things faster off a news server, i mean you will get quicker since the release time are better and theres no need to wait for things to cache, not download faster

I for one am willing to pay R1K for unlimited internet at 2.4mpbs. My question is if they're shaped or not.
While I wait for them to reach my hick-town, I'll be spending that spare cash on hard drives :);)

Completely unshaped and unrestricted P2P.

I think I will call them again in the beginning of next month, not going to rush and get the connection now (Ulimited one). R1000 for a week not worth it.

Heck, if they get those two issues sorted I'd even try out one of their 'cheap' and slow uncapped packages...I fear at 2 x dialup it will be laughably slow though, and the problem is what to do with the hardware if you don't want to continue to use their services?

I will take the option that offers month to month and that allows you to use the internet and phone at the same time.
Don't they have one?
Then they can stick their services ....

In light of my current problems with Telkom (see http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=119888). I'd be more than willing to sign up with Neotel's R999 package provided the following issues could be addressed:
1. What happens if you need more than one line? You have to pay R999 on each line?
2. No fax?
3. Can not use the telephone if you're on the net...
