View Full Version : Old 35mm film
I recently discovered some 35mm film cartridges that were used about ten years ago. Will the pictures on these cartridges still develop correctly?

Quite possibly - it depends on how well the film has been preserved.
Have a look at this site - http://www.westfordcomp.com/updated/found.htm - I guess this guy collects cameras and often finds rolls of film in them which he develops.
What a wonderful site.
Thanks for the link Bwana.
Couldn't help feeling nostalgic looking at all those old films.
Makes you wish that early generations should have taken more pictures. They probably did, but they were thrown out with the rubbish like most old things.
This quote says it all.

Youth and beauty are fleeting things. Taken for granted when we have them, and missed when they are gone. They fade slowly as time and changes absorb our lives. One day we realize that they are lost, like a cherished locket worn around the neck of a young woman.

When I was packing up when moving to the UK, I also discovered a handful of films that were used but not yet developed. I had no idea what was on them or how old they were. So I sent them for development.
All came out fine, and by the pictures and the events they capture, the oldest of these are roughly 20 years old (110mm!).
Speaking about older generations. When my grandmother died, she left a whole box filled with old photos. These included lots of older ones that she had obviously inherited from her parents. She never showed us any of these, so it was quite a surprise. The problem is, only she knew who were in all of those pictures.
So, tag those pictures!

I like the ones where someone added recent photos of the place where the old photos were taken. Really gives you a sense of time.
