Wenger said hes close to signing Nasri... Hleb's agent said hes going in search of ice cream and tranquility in Milan...
So bye Hleb, hello Nasri :)
Good deal I think.. Hleb lacks an end product and Nasri is full of potential.. Cant wait to see him in midfield along side Cesc, Vela and Walcott.. Though it looks like Diaby will take up the CDM position..
French league ends today so should hear more about Nasri over this week...

Danny Fiszman spoke exclusively to Arsenal.com last week.
In a candid interview the Arsenal director discussed a number of hot topics including the departure of Keith Edelman, how he will be replaced, Arsène Wenger's transfer budget, the Club's wage structure, the Board's 'lock-down agreement' on shares and how the 'credit crunch' affects Arsenal. Read the full Q&A now.

Arsenal will not adopt the Chelsea model of pursuing success on the pitch regardless of the cost, according to director Danny Fiszman.
The Gunners failed to win a trophy last season but are determined not to seek a Chelsea-style benefactor such as billionaire Roman Abramovich in search of silverware.
Arsenal ran out of steam in both the Barclays Premier League and Champions League as Chelsea pushed Manchester United all the way.
But Fiszman has signalled Arsenal's determination not to go down the same route as Chelsea, whose pursuit of the Premier League and Champions League saw them ultimately come second best to United in both competitions.
Fiszman told Arsenal TV: "We don't believe in the benefactor model."

Mark Randall knows exactly what is needed to succeed at Arsenal.
The talented midfielder recently returned from a five-month loan spell with Championship outfit Burnley. As well as picking up a wealth of first-team experience, Randall learned more of the values required to be a professional.
“I would say I have come back physically stronger and more hard-working,” the 18-year-old told Arsenal.com. “That is what I learnt a lot of at Burnley, so I would definitely say my loan helped towards me featuring at Sunderland.
“I know you need a lot of discipline to succeed as an Arsenal player, and a professional attitude. I have that now and I am so happy for the sacrifices I have made.

Nasri was in London recently to undergo a medical and agree a four-year deal with the Gunners, who are expected to announce the ₤11.2 million signing during the coming week.
The deal will prove something of a coup for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who has been criticised for his timid approach in the transfer market over recent years.
And Ribery, who played with Nasri at Marseille before moving to Germany last summer, expects the 20-year-old to flourish at the Emirates once he comes to terms with the pace and physicality of the Premier League.
"It is good for him," Ribery told reporters at France’s training camp in Clairefontaine. "It [Arsenal] is a good club with many young people.

Arsene Wenger is monitoring developments surrounding Spanish international Dani Guiza and is prepared to step in with a £12 bid if Barcelona fail to make a move for the Real Mallorca striker.
The winner of this season's Pichichi Trophy, awarded to the top scorer in the Spanish top division, after scoring 27 goals in La Liga is also being watched by Real Madrid and Roma.
Guiza left the Nou Camp in 2003 having failed to break in to the first team squad at the time though with Samuel Eto'o likely to leave this summer Barcelona are on the look out for a proven goalscorer in the division.
Wenger has also made enquiries about Guiza's fellow Spain international Ruben De la Red, a combative Real Madrid midfielder.
The 22-year-old, who will feature in Spain's Euro 2008 campaign in Austria and Switzerland, is seen as a possible replacement for Mathieu Flamini, who left Arsenal to join AC Milan earlier this month.

The number of England-qualified players starting in the Premier League dropped to an all-time low last season, research by BBC Sport has found.
Only 170 of the 498 players who started matches in the top flight in 2007-08 were English - just 34.1% of the total.
It marks a big slide from 2006-07, when 191 (38%) of the starters were English.

So all the Arsenal fans are praying that Nasri will be signed. have you guys given some thought to how that will impact the team?
Nasri and Fabregas play in almost the exact same position. Iv heard Fabregas might not like Arsenal buying a player who plays virtually in his position.
nivek
31-05-2008, 01:59 PM
Rosicky, Hleb, Diaby were also all central.. Hleb and Rosicky were made to play wide.. With Nasri being Hlebs potential replacement, he'll be put on the left.. Or behind Ade/RVP/Eduardo in the hole in 4-5-1
Yip, should work. Might be complications tho. Fabregas so young, and they already thinking of getting a replacement.

The current squad is built around Cesc.. there is no replacement, and he isnt going anywhere..
The problem this season that past was depth.. Nasri will add that.. Cesc played nearly every game
Ya, but their is growing concern that Cesc might leave or might ''want'' to leave when Nasri comes. He is longing to go back to Spain.

Is Aaron Ramsey right to choose Arsenal over Manchester United? The 17-year-old Cardiff midfielder has spurned United’s offer and decided to move to the Emirates for £5m instead. Is he right to think Arsenal is the better club to nurture his talents and offer him more opportunities to play?

no i personally dont think so, i dont think it would matter which club he chose in terms of nurturing him
maybe he is wanting to go to arsenal because he sees more of chance to play than at united who in all honesty have alot of good players, well alot more in terms of arsenal who have a pretty small squad
i think he will find first team footie at arsenal a lil easier due to the smaller squad size

my thoughts on this have nothing to do with supporting united i just feel arsenal's major weakness is the size of their squad
@xeo57 , in this instance Killadoob is correct, most other sides have larger squads. It is this factor that has cost us in the end. There is not enough players to step up when our regulars get injured.
With Eduardo and Robin VP out injured, all we had left was Ade (I want to go to Milan) and Bendtner.
Gallas, Toure and Senderos (Oh dear not him) is our specialist Centre Backs, we have at times had to start with Gilberto in there.
Whereas ManU , have a lot more to choose from.
It is not a criticism, just merely stating a fact.
What grates my nerves is Arsene stating in the press, that Centre Back is not one of our concerns, he won't be looking at strenghtening in that area.
I guess we will have to contend ourselves with being 2nd or 3rd for another season.
I would get rid of :
Adebayor (Milan want to pay 32Million pounds, (strongly rumoured, don't know if it's true, but anyone that wants to pay 32mil for him, then yes please) ,
Gilberto and Senderos(both have been linked with moves to Juventus ),
Hleb (he seems intent on leaving, so why keep him around, he will affect the morale in the squad, ciao bella then barca or bayern, who cares)
If we can collect some 40-50 Million pounds in total from these sales, I am certain Arsene(scrooge) will be able to use it wisely. But he does hate spending money I must say.
Well with Ramsey on his way for 5 million Pounds and Nasri predicted to be coming at 12million, I think he is about done with his wheeling and dealing.

Couldn't agree more! If they offering 32 mil for Adebayour they should take. Scrape some pennies together after selling a few "hanger-oners" and we can get a class act like Villa, who lets be honest, is just awesome at the moment.
Looking forward to how Nasri and Ramsey fair in the next season.

Senderos isnt that bad.. He's decent backup as he proved when Kolo went to ACN. No one was arguing then, only after the 2nd Pool game where he made a few mistakes, which every defender does now and again.. He is still young and will get better..

Personally I'd like Podolski. :)
The Germany international, whose three goals at Euro 2008 have helped his national team to the semi-finals, made only eight Bundesliga starts last season and has repeatedly admitted his desire to play regular first-team football.
PODOLSKI REIGNITES EXIT TALK (http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_3721641,00.html). He reminds me a lot of Van Persie, which I guess wouldn't work as they're both left footed players and are therefore quite similar as far as forwards go.
24/06/2008 Arsenal Rumours (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/jun/24/arsenal.marseille)
The Marseille midfielder Samir Nasri yesterday announced on his website that he has signed a four-year contract with Arsenal although his agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes, later said: "It is premature to announce this. Discussions are continuing between the two clubs and the player." Arsenal have yet to confirm the deal.
Milan appear to have admitted defeat in their attempts to sign Emmanuel Adebayor from the Gunners. "Adebayor has a contract and I'm always a pessimist," the vice-president, Adriano Galliani, said.
"If the club don't allow you in there's nothing you can do. If the player is at the end of his contract then his wishes are important but if not, and there's a contract and the club who owns him says no, then it's no."

Arsenal's Training Ground in London Colney was, once again, a hive of activity as some of the first-team squad returned after their summer break. Manager Arsène Wenger put the players through their places as preparations for the 2008/09 campiagn got underway in Hertfordshire
There were some notable absentees, though. Newly crowned European champion Cesc Fabregas is yet to return as are the other Gunners who represented their countries over the summer.

Arsenal's summer woes have been compounded by the news that Kolo Toure has been diagnosed with malaria.
It's thought that the defender contracted the disease while on holiday in his native Ivory Coast. After flying out for Arsenal's pre-season tour of Austria and Hungary, the 27-year-old was sent to hospital in Vienna where malaria was diagnosed.
Although an Arsenal spokesperson described Toure as "being in good spirits", it seems unlikely he will be fit for the start of the new season. That leaves Arsene Wenger with only Johan Djourou or Philippe Senderos as potential partners for William Gallas after he decided against recruiting any new defenders this summer.

:( Senderos potentially starting the season in defence.
Now we just need Senderos to go down, and PSG to come in with an offer for Gallas and then I will be happy. Then he will be forced to buy a replacement as cover.
I wish Wenger could get rid of Johan Djourou, Philippe Senderos, Eboue, Adebayor and William Gallas.
I am not fond at all of any of those players. Footie Manager 2008 here I come.

yeah, agreed... except i think senderos and gallas should stay... the rest of the names mentioned should be out
senderos and gallas both for the door.
I am tired of Gallas and all of his emo stuff, you are the captain for goodness sake.
I am surprised he has kept his trap shut, normally he would have been wining about our current transfer activity and the player exodus.
Senderos, is beginning to give old "horse" aka Oleg Luzhny a run for his money or even good ol Pascal Cygan. Wengers teams will never be complete without one of these type of weirdos in defence for Wenger it seems.
Get rid of both, out with the old and in with something else.

I rate Senderos. He had a few bad seasons, but last season he wasn't terrible. Even scored a few goals. For a reserve central defender, he is fine in my opinion. Gallas really needs to keep his head, which he seems to lose way too often. Especially as our captain! Should he be captain.. I am not sure, but then again, who else is there?
Song and Djourou should really be sold in my opinion. With Toure having malaria and all, they'll at least be warming the bench come August. That is quite worrying.
I wouldn't right Arsenal off. I remember this time last year, on Sky News, some old Man U fewl was saying that Arsenal had zero chance of winning anything that season. Sure we didn't win anything but we could've quite easily won a whole lot if it wasn't for some torrid luck and an injury bonanza.
And to Flamini and Hleb, goodbye, nice knowing you. Funny how when players leave Arsenal they dip into a bad run of form. *holds thumbs*

Although the Twente questions had been searching, Arsenal managed to smuggle a vital 2-0 victory back from Arnhem on Wednesday night.
Arsène Wenger's weakened side were on the rack for most of this Champions League third qualification round first leg tie. Steve McClaren, in his first competitive game since England's defeat to Croatia last November, had asked his team to tear into Arsenal from the first whistle and they responded in style.
Good result, although the performance wasn't great apparently. Away from home, with a few injuries and a very young side, I don't think we could ask for more than a 0-2 win. :)

Gervihno definitely looks the business! His first goal against Cologne was pure win, and I'd hate to say it, but his second was brilliant, too: how many times last season (oh, and the 5 before that!) did we try and string 12 passes together in the 6yrd box, without finishing?! First-time crosses + tap-ins = profit! I hope he links up well with RvP.
Come on you Gunners!
