DISGUSTING! I am ashamed of what the Springboks did today! They disgraced us a rugby playing nation! Schoolboy errros, no game plan, no passion, nothing. What did they actually go to the stadium for, other than to shame themselves and their supporters?

If we played and lost as we did against England -> no problem, no shame in losing like that. To lose against the All Blacks like we did today is nothing short of disgusting!

They should ALL be fired, not just the coaches - the players too, every single one of them -> they don't deserve to wear the green & gold! After all they are professionals and when you screw up at work you should suffer the repercussions.

I hope they are met at the airport by a crowd throwing rotten vegetables at them...

Well, we hoped and Ferdie and Joost prayed but I believe that hope and prayer is not the answer at international level. Maybe training, commitment and talent is needed. The worst part is that they did not even Try? 15 players committed to missing tackles and knocking balls on. We may even have failed to score a try if their was no opposition. I believe that if the All Blacks played as well as they normally do, the score might have been on the way to a hundred.

I am amazed at your last comment, I actually suggested VROT[xx(][:(!][:(] naartjies just after the match, but I believe that that would be a waste of time.[;)]

These previous two comments are so typical of the general South African. Why is it that we only support the winning side? I watched the game today and although the performance was shocking. At least it is something to build on...

ASF, you don't deserve to be associated with South Africa. We all need commitment as a nation. South Africa is one of the few countries where supporters switch sides during a game. THIS IS WHAT IS DISGUSTING.

Sticking by our team throughout the good and bad times is what we need.

We keep looking at the negatives of everything. Look how our rugby has changed over the last year. Stop living in the past, focus on the future.

I'd rather people like you were met with rotten vegetables. You make me sick.

Maybe SA supporters switch sides during the game because our team seems to play worse every second of a match. I would not have made the comments if they actually at any stage seem to be improving on their previous performances, but alas it seems a forlorn hope.

i agree with asf 29-9 is a pathetic way to end 4 years of preparation especially when its mostly basic errors that let us down...that said the boks looked as nervous kids on their first day of school maybe we pressured them in the wrong way a little too much? lets just hope this spiral downwards to a secound rate rugby nation stops soon!!

hmmm,

this leads to some interesting questions...

Does anyobody know if the rugby industry in SA is deregulated, or if the sa rugby board basically runs a monopoly?

Surely the only way to improve the state of rugby in our country is to allow anyone to compete with SARFU on an equal basis. Independent RSP's, or Rugby Service Providers, would then be able to contract their own players and supply their own venues. Strong competition will force RSB's to continually come up with more innovative and flexible packages.

Results will be, of course, GUARANTEED, with appropriate service level agreements in place.

The real winner would be the rugby supporter. Soon we will be able to pick our own teams and coaches. Some packages will allow you to also pick your own referees and even make up your rules. Eventually the ridiculous 15-man cap would be dropped, and you would be able to pick as many players in your team as you want, both nationally and internationally.
Want a prop that can do the 100m in 10.1 seconds? Simply sign up for the Platinum membership.

And if your current RSP doesn't produce the service or results they promised, switch to one that does.

In countries like the US, Canadia and Japan, where the rugby industry has been deregulated for years, RSP's has been allowed to flourish, and they have dominated world rugby ever since.
Spin-off products like "American Footbal", "Aussie rules", and of course the less popular "soccer", are the direct result of the competitive market in these countries, where the RSP's have long ago realised that what their customers want most of all is CHOICE.

Come on people, for years we have been shamelessly ripped off by SARFU. No more.

If NZ can offer affordable, reliable, high quality rugby, why can't we?

The time to act is NOW!!!

[:D] [:D] [:D] [:D]

ChezAnwyne, only you could turn a heated argument into a joke. LOL

It was more the comment on throwing rotten fruit at the team on their arrival...

Anyway, it was not 4 years of preperation. If I remember correctly we only finalised our team about 3 months before the world cup. I believe this is where the problem lay.

We cannot expect to beat teams that have been together for years.

We can all agree our team has talent as it stands. Let us now build on these players.

You've struck a cord of truth chez sarfu is riddled with an insane amount of politics. much like the communications ministry it's run by people who have absolutley no idea of what rugbys all about most of them have never even played it!!! today was prehaps the most important day for south african rugby in 4 years and all they could do was whinge that there was only one non-white player playing!! also what where 3 19-year old players doing in the squad??? dont we have anyone apart from joost with a little experience?

Oh Please, do me a favour. Build on what - winning against Zimbabwe? As a matter of fact I don't just support a winning side as you suggest. I am a totally commited SA supporter, through thick and thin - but that does not mean I have to happy with the shamefull perfomance they put on. What gets my goat is the way they played - can you honestly say they performed to the best of their abilities?

I beg your pardon? I was born here, raised here, went to school here, did military service for my country here and am now contributing to the economy by creating jobs in my company for others HERE. (and support my sports teams here..) So no I think I have every right to be associated with MY country.

Well yes and no. In principle yes but when they have a coaching staff that seem to no plan or tactical skill and when the players prove one day that they can play and the next that they can't then no - it's about skill, commitment, tactics, planning, fitness and above all else consistancy. None of which the SA team displayed on Saturday.

Give us something positive to look at then... Some of us are actually ferverent rugby supporters who know a lot about the game and have a passion for our teams. We get bloody annoyed when the current setup is screwing up our nations rugby. We have a proud rugby history. Anyone who really follows the Boks will tell you that. In the past foreign teams FEARED us, they dreaded running on to the field against us because they knew what was coming -&gt; a whipping. In the last 10 years (with the exception of winning in '95) our standard of international play has deteriorated to what we were shown on Saturday... They looked like scared little schoolboys in a big man's game. Totally out of place. This is not a Springbok team that I respect. Not like the teams that I watched growing up. Real men playing with passion and a will to win for their country. I bet you Danie Craven is turning in his grave...

How can we ask for consistency when management decisions are changing the coaches, players on a week by week basis. And what is this new crap about where the racial quota aspect is now being brought in again - Daily News 08 November 2003.

The head of SARFU has already quit. This is only the beginning. Let stick with the side we have now. We can agree they have an exceptional amount of potential. Lets build from this...

I agree that the standard of rugby has fallen considerably. Maybe we are just reaching a trough and hopefully the cycle will build up again.

My predicition for the next few months.

It is an overall viewpoint that generall the entire Southern hemispher was feared. A look at the sides coming through at the moment from the northen hemispher (namely France and England) shows that there has been a huge change in the game.

<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">They should ALL be fired, not just the coaches - the players too, every single one of them -&gt; they don't deserve to wear the green & gold! There were still players getting involved in every ruck and maul on our side. Those players should not bear the brunt of your opinion. I speak spacificly of Corne and Joost. Perhaps it is the youth that are coming through. Maybe their focus is wrong.

Lets build from the ground up. Focus on next years Super 12. We start winning those tournaments. Or at least featuring in finals, then, we will stand a chance. You cannot say we have nothing to build on.

Even in our defeat against England, our players gave up in the last ten minutes. We have the skill. We need to have faith. And the players must hold on with everything they have. Perhaps the contracts have something to do with this giving up.

We were let down. But, the true nature of a true South African is to be beaten, and get up and fight again. This is what I was tought...

Got this off MIRC:

A seven year old boy was at the centre of a courtroom drama last
week when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of the boy. The
boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge awarded custody to his
aunt.
The boy confirmed that his aunt beat him more than his parents
and refused to live there.
When the judge suggested that he live with his grandparents the
boy cried out that they beat him more than anyone.
The judge dramatically allowed the boy to choose who should have custody of him. Custody was granted to the Springbok
rugby team this morning as the boy firmly believes that they are not capable of beating anyone.

Rugby isn't really a big thing in Canada. In fact, I wasn't even aware that we had a team until a few weeks ago. If you think your team was bad, try ours. Heh. We suck pretty badly. I do support them though. Go Canada! (Ok, perhaps they can't go anymore, because they dropped out. Bah.)

But we are good with hockey! :D

Indeed. How many 'bok supporter to the core' people out there right now are fair weather fans?

The true mark of a fan is standing by your team no matter if they are on top of the world or are being thrashed by all and sundry (which must make me a posterchild England fan! :D )

It's good for SA rugby that they won and hopefully will get better funding etc.. But the true test of the fans stamina will be when SA start losing (as they will at some point in the next 4 years).
