Any news on neotel durban areas?

I'm in the Upper Highway area and they are putting in fibre optic all the way from Kloof to Hillcrest. Going pretty quickly ... hope they launch with coverage up here soon. JayN

i dont get why they put their fibre cables everywhere but not doing ntn with it?
if they want il take over and run a 1gbps line


their worker are inexperienced , i asked 1 when will dsl be out he said whats dsl , then i told him then he says o well we not going to have then i had to direct him to the neotel site where they say dsl and fibre dsl ........etc etc
but the point is everone wants answers and they should give us some


vodacom started laying fibre after neotel but they are almost done with 2 fibre rings , as for neotel we dont know if they made 1/100000000 of a ring

Vodacom and MTN took a long time to grow beyond a handful of towers in the major areas and they are both still busy rolling out their 3G networks.... So what are you exactly expecting from Neotel that is going to be different?

Lol. I don't think that we will be getting fibre to the home anytime soon. I heard that the modems cost massive amounts of $$

A decently priced 4 mb/s or 8 mb/s ADSL service over copper would be really cool for now. The ADSL modems are really cheap and most of them are compatible with ADSL2 and so should be relatively future proof.

@ ambo: It is not so much the time it is going to take to roll out their network, it's the lack of a date.
By date I don't mean 'by the 6 august or your money back', I am thinking more like a map with with some broader dates e.g. august, late august, early september

For now in their FAQ they ask themselves

1. Which areas are the initial areas for the launch?

Answer: Our consumer service will initially be available in selected areas of Gauteng but will gradually expand to major metropolitan areas such Cape Town and Durban. Eventually, our network will expand to reach more than 80% of the country's population.

2. When will services be available in my area?

Answer: Our consumer services are currently being launched in selected suburbs of Johannesburg and Pretoria. We will be adding more areas to the service over the coming months which will include Durban and Cape Town. Eventually, our network will expand to reach more than 80% of the country's population.

It's not that I am angry, but just dissapointed, I got caught up in the hype and I am just out of range in Lynnwood PTA, and no one can give me any clue to when it might be.
