Greetings, the reason for this post is to get lot of responses on who wish to join Neotel, the more we speak the more they'll take off and roll-out faster... ;)

+1 :D
I'll take the unlimited bandwidth option!

The moment they have an Ethernet based device which I can preferably purchase outright I'll consider switching as I already have 3 PCs going at home (none windows based), and setting up a fourth (IPCop/Smoothwall) for internet access is just a massive waste of space and electricity
So to sum it all up:
1. No contracts
2. Ethernet devices
3. High usage caps (at least)
If I can get this at an affordable / competitive price, I'm there.

Pretty much. I'd consider taking the R999 option depending on speed if I could get it with an Ethernet device and no contract.

Agreed - the contract is my biggest gripe around all of their packages.
Seriously - Telscum have the R120 for a year option - that is gonna take some doing from Neotel to get the masses away from "The Beast".
I still don't know why they don't let current ISP's resell their bandwidth.
They are stalling themselves by wanting to feed everything through the CDMA network.
Are you telling me that they can't re-route traffic from the landing station to the WA's and Cybersmarts of this country? (If thats how its done anyway)
If I had the option to buy bandwidth from Neotel via WA and it was a competitive offer - I'd jump at the oppurtunity!
That would make for much easier penetration into the market I'd reckon...

Me, only one pc for myself so no Ethernet required. Not really going to use the phone so can't talk while download not bothering me at all. And for the contract, you can migrate to other package once it's available and only obligation when cancel the contract is the device cost (like you buy a ADSL modem but pay-off for 24 month)........

The primary Reason for 3G's Massive growth is because of NO CONTRACTS
Neotel should do the same, or do they have something to hide?
If their service was great, there should be no need for contracts.

Well I heard that you can opt out of the contract, by just paying the for the device. Included in your monthly amount is R80 that goes towards the device.

Am considering neotel if they meet the following criteria:
Modem with ETHERNET PORT
Static IP
No contracts

Seeing as there is only 1 pc at home the ethernet thing doesnt bother me.
I just want better speeds and good caps

Neo1 - Why does the company not look at reselling purely bandwidth only products through the various ISP's out there?
Is this something that Neotel is considering or not?

The biggest problem with that is the limited coverage.
Can you maybe let us know as to why there is no coverage map on Neotel website like iburst has?
Where you can just enter you street address and it shows you the signal strength over your address.

Neotel is in discussions with various parties possible partners for various options. As you can imagine I can't disclose until its finalised. One step at a time.....

Our website is undergoing an overhaul at the moment to make it more user friendly. I know they are doing testing and hope the consumer portal will be ready soon. In the meantime please use the call centre they are actually using the same map technology that you will be able to use once we go live!

And only use it in JHB/PTA :p
Those phones would be nice once the country is covered and an interesting question indeed.

No ifs or buts for me, just when - I'm dumping Telkom the minute Neotel start servicing my area.

Does ICASA have to approve their base station erection.
No contract and an Ethernet device and I am there like a bear - I'll get the 2G Lite package assuming you get near the maximum speeds. I don't need speed just a cheap, always on Internet connection.

Their 24 month contract is only really for the device, you can cancel the service at any time then you only pay R80pm for the cost of the device.
They shouldn't have started using the words "24 month contract" and just put the service on month to month as it really is.

Yes i think the rep needs to communicate this fact to whoever needs to hear it in neotel. Their contract is not a contract for the service but for the device. Maybe they need to change their wording.
Nearly every potential customer is moaning about the contract, when infact there isnt really one as its traditionally viewed.

That is so but I looked at the site last week and it doesn't show an option to purchase the hardware upfront like iBurst does

Yes, they definitely need to make that an option.
