What does this have to do with the price of eggs? 11g is more of a LAN technology.

Ok, I'm sorry, but what the heck are you on about? What's stopping you from using 802.11b/g technology in this country? Anyone can go out and buy wireless network cards etc. and setup a wireless network.

Firstly, the article and link is zdnet.
Why are we so far behind ??
The technology described is suitable for a broadband connection of which there are just 7000+ in our country.
How many homes in South Africa are networked - forget with 802.11g ?
What does an 802.11g wireless router cost in South Africa ?
We hardly have any wireless networks in small businesses.
I could go on - get the point guys ?
Maybe you guys are just having a bad day - **** happens [:)]

Well, maybe that's because businesses don't see the need for one. From what I've seen, wireless networking technology is not much more expensive than in other countries. (based on exchange rates; the hardware imported, after all)
Quite frankly, I don't see what the big deal is; I mean, sure, it's convenient, but it's far slower than a wired network, and more expensive no matter what country you're in. Most buildings already have the wired infrastructure there, so there really is not much incentive to convert to wireless.
On the flip side of the coin, .za does have its own wireless hotspots; they may not be as numerous as in other parts of the world, but they do exist.
