View Full Version : Getting Mint Linux to use local Ubuntu Repo's?
Hey everyone, well I eventually decided to install Linux Mint 5 (Elyssa) all I can say is wow! This is what Ubuntu 8.04 should have been like. Anyway since I am capped , I was wondering can I use local Ubuntu (Hardy) repo's in Mint?

What repo does it use currently? If they are compatible with mainline ubuntu repos you could just edit your sources.list file and put in the local URIs.

It is using the American Hardy Repo's. Anyone know what the local url's are?

I believe there is one at http://ubuntu.mirror.ac.za/ and one on IS's FTP server, but in true IS style you can expect that one to work intermittently.

Hey thanks for that, I tried to add that address to my repos but it would not work for some reason:confused:

Haven't used linux as a desktop in years, only on my servers now. I use OS X.
Edit: this may help:

Yay, one mint convert. :)

Yip, I can live with the 32bit version until the 64bit version comes out. Although I have to say I feel Mint linux is what Ubuntu should be.
"Expect a little review of Mint coming soon:D"
