Hi All

I would like to let you all know that we have imported a number of AlphaShield (http://www.alphashield.com/) units into SA for resale at R1250.00 excluding shipping. We primarily brought in the units for our own use and provided to a few customers and friends. To be cost effective given high shipping costs we brought in a dozen or so units and have a few available for resale. If interested email me on adsl@idxonline.com (mailto:adsl@idxonline.com).

Check out their website - it is really a excellent product and really does protect you from external attack and privacy invaison. We have had a unit for over two years and haven't been hit by any worms or compromised by network based attacks. The is great for SMEs and SOHO like ourselves. Warning: You are still open to email (or downloaded) bourne viruses and require anti-virus software. This products stops external hacking / attacks 100%.

I've added some sales and marketing info from their website below.

AlphaShieldTM is a truly unique and powerful device that provides you with the protection you need against hacking and information theft.

Complete privacy and total protection. AlphaShieldTM puts you in control of your Internet experience. Simply plug the unit between your computer and high-speed modem and experience the peace of mind security you need.
Explore the Internet with confidence.

AlphaShield's effectiveness comes from the combination of three powerful technologies.

IP Stealth Technology makes your computer 'invisible' to 'would-be-hackers'

Real-time Packet Authorization (RPA™) allows only requested information into the computer, keeping all unsolicited visitors out.

AlphaGap™Technology automatically disconnects the computer from the Internet when not in use, eliminating the possibility of unwanted intrusions.

Now you can truly enjoy surfing the net in the 'privacy' of your own home.

"IP Stealth Technology"? You'd have to be mad to trust anyone that can spout such absurdity about their product.

Why would anyone want to use such a product?

"This products stops external hacking / attacks 100%."
I'm very weary of any firewall product that claims that.

There are lots of advantages of using something like it though... the advertising is worrying.

"Real-time Packet Authorization (RPA™)", "AlphaGap™Technology"

Yes its got NAT and Dial on Demand, what a load of... what mithrandi said.
