Just love this clean, non personal banter between supporters.
But Singhdude made a valid comment. Maybe I am being impartial, but in my recent trip to the UK I went to watch a Pool vs City, Arsenal vs City (League Cup) and Utd vs Palace (League Cup). And the atmosphere and vibe at Anfield was much better than the two clubs combined. Maybe because it was a League Cup, but the supporters for me had no passion. The guys I sat next to looked like a bunch of hooligans. And that is another reason I LOVE my team so much.
If you want to see supporters supporting a team, you had to see Palace at Old Trafford. They started singing 10 minutes before the game and didn't stop until the game was done. Now that was epic in its own right
PS. I was smiling inside watching Utd lose to Palace, unfortunately couldn't show it as I was sitting between the Utd supporters.

Haven't been to Old Trafford, but I've heard similar to that. Also, Emirates has basically no atmosphere whatsover. Stick is right, the sizes make a difference, but I do reckon if Anfield was the same size there'd be better atmosphere than OT. We've all heard of the rocking nights at Anfield for CL nights especially.

Wow is common knowledge lost among you lot?
The more people you have in a stadium, the more people you have that need to create an atmosphere. It's a lot easier to get 40 000 people to scream at the same time than it is to get 70 000 people to scream at the same time. Also being bigger, this allows for a larger amount of opposition supporters to be seated in Old Trafford. What with United's record at Old Trafford, opposition supporters don't normally have much to sing about as 99% of the time their team loses.
Also just take basic sound acoustics into account. It's a lot easier to make a higher noise density in a smaller area than it is in a larger area. 10 people screaming in a 10x10 room will be louder than 10 people screaming in a 20x20 room as the noise does not need to travel therefore there is less diffraction taking place.

Kenny Dalglish has made his opening move for Wilfried Zaha after making a personal call to Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman.
Liverpool are preparing a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero, according to the player's agent.
Liverpool are understood to be interested in Inter Milan striker Luc Castaignos on a possible loan.
Liverpool are set to make a shock move for Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou as they aim to steal him from under the noses of Arsenal...
Lille’s determination to sign Joe Cole on a permanent deal could see coveted striker Moussa Sow head in the opposite direction.

That's it. I'm done with Liverpool. I've had enough. Kenny has completely lost the plot and is out of touch with modern day football. I was worried that his appointment would not come back to haunt them because he has been out so long. Now it shows.
I've wasted at least a decade of watching them. What a waste.

It's says alot if your FB is the best attacking player on the field. KK is too scared to lose and I still don't understand how there is no-one in the box when the ball gets crossed into the box, but when the team counters there are no defenders. HOW ?!!!!
I Love the manager and what he has done for Liverpool, but he needs to start doing something different. Otherwise I think he should go.
Alan must be loving this, because I think he said this a while back already

It does beggar belief. At one stage when Downing turned a Stoke player and ran to the box, Kuyt headed for the right touch line, pulling absolutely no defenders with him. Strange tactics.

Don't know if anybody else heard this, but it is very superstitious. LFC had a room called the bootroom, where the younger players would have to polish the boots of the older players and Shankly or somebody said "As soon as you destroy this bootroom, Liverpool will never win a Premier League again" Or at least something to that effect. And the bootroom was destroyed in 1990 and when last did Liverpool win the League ?
Coincidence ?
Just some interesting, use it, don't use it
A seventh draw in 11 home matches means that Liverpool are still to win as many matches at Anfield as they have on the road and their unbeaten record as hosts has become the misleading stuff of utter irrelevance. Four matches won, 14 points dropped. That's not unbeaten, that's a total defeat.
Chelsea have lost 3 more home games yet have 3 more home points. Arsenal have lost 3 more games overall and yet are a point ahead.
Hell we could trade those 7 draws for 5 losses and 2 wins and only be a point worse off.

I think it's more an attitude thing not trophies and results. It's tough supporting a scared, insipid team who refuse to play and a club who insist on buying over priced sub par players.
Lets be honest here. The club is a laughing stock and has been for a few years now. Hell even Newcastle have managed to pull themselves right before this club.

Well, frak me that was a pathetic slow motion car crash. Remind me again which team was the relegation battlers and which was the multi-squillion pound squad?
Everyone except Bellamy played awfully. Not fair to single anyone out but what is the point of Henderson?
Chelsea & Arsenal have handed us golden chances but all we seem to be doing is peeing upwind. After Wolves, it's Chelsea, Tottingham, Everton & teh_Arsenal but today's game was so bad even we played 100% better we'd still lose all of them, and let's not take the Wolves game for granted either.

what bother me the most was the way we lost. no urgency, no hunger, no tactics. i know we have 1 eye on Wednesday's game, but giving a performance like that was horrible and awful to watch. kenny look bemused like all the other pool manager's. our biggest problem is pure pace upfront which we don't have. there was nothing else besides bellamy. i would spend the 20mil on defoe because of the situation we are in currently. we will be better then downing, henderson and carroll combined. if you give him proper ball he will finish. get lasanda diarra form madrid as we need someone asap to fill the hole in the middle. we have spend all these money on more midfielders that we don't need. we need pace to put defenders under pressure.
hopefully kenny get somebody in before close of jan transfer otherwise i can see us only ending up in 6th place this season.

Anyone have that new Michael BOLTON song?.....:D
Bring Back Rafa :o
Pathetic display by LFC
Not many days left in the transfer window
If Rafa, or Hodgson had spent the kind of money KD has and gotten these poor results they would have literally been crucified.
True. He has to go then.....
If only the new owners followed him out too.
Adam, Gerrard and Henderson in midfield is a disaster. Pull Adam or Henderson off and get Spearing on. We need a DM. Seriously. This is BS.
Actually this is our problem. You don't need a DM against Bolton ffs. But both Adam and Gerrard were forced to play out of position and it nullified them going forward. In fact all they did was get in the way of the defence.
EXACTLY what used to happen under Rafa. A midfield that was in no-man's land that the opposition would simply breeze through
Dalglish then went on a loony rant blaming the players for not "respecting" Bolton. He should look in the mirror. He doesn't respect his own players. His tactics clearly indicate he doesn't believe the squad is good enough to go out and take the game to the opposition even against religion threatened minnows. He doesn't trust them enough to let them play. Yet he expects the players to respond positively to that and perform. The man has lost his mind.

WTF have you lost your mind. We have a bad day at the office and you go BRING BACK RAFFA? Please do us all a favour and leave the LFC family you tw@t.
There is no way we can win all the games, Saturday was a particularly bad day at the office but that does not mean the RATS should abandon ship. Andy Carrol was pedestrian to say the least and the decision to take off Maxi and Adam was not the shot in the arm we needed. It would have been more prudent to take Carrol off and send him to Siberia for LIFE. Leave Maxi and Kuyt in the front.
It's people like you Nimz that make me watch LFC matches alone cause the noise generated by the talent-less idiots on the side line aka YOU and your kind spoil the BEAUTIFUL GAME. True football supporters take the good with the bad and do not call for a change in management after a bad game.
Yes I am disappointed at the 3 - 1 loss to Bolton specially after the 10 game no loss over the years, BUT this is football and here we take the GOOD with the BAD. Kenny will go back analyze and correct things for the next match. I am hoping that Feb 11 2012 comes quick so we can have a front pair Kuyt - Suarez back on the field and back on form. This is where I disagree with you. I believe in this day and age you can't play without a dedicated DM, someone to break up the play before it gets to the back four. Someone who cuts out the trouble before it begins. A hard man that tackles like a beast without giving away stupid free kicks (unlike Adam). Having a DM allows the likes of Gerrard/Henderson/Adam to sit in a more advance role supporting the one striker we seem to enjoy playing with. Even against a side like Bolton a DM would also allow us to keep possession, regain it back more quickly as well as having the ability to spray the ball about.
Gosh I miss Lucas.

Like I said no need for a DM against Bolton. Adam and Gerrard would have dominated the midfield if allowed to play their natural game. They don't need help from a DM
If the blackline pushed up and the team pressed high Bolton would be starved of possession.

It is in the games with the so called "lesser teams", that we don't need a dedicated DM, because they park the bus and we need to be creative...
Saturday however, they were attacking us and we were on the defensive from the start, hence a DM was needed, though this also proved to not be enough. had we not been so defensive, we might have given them something to think about when going on their attack.
Our biggest problem is that we are toothless upfront. Teams don't fear us because we offer no attacking threat. Carroll is laughable.
Teams will respect us more if we offer an attacking threat.

I beg to differ... why do you think SAF goes into a 4-5-1 formation away from home... Lesser teams tend to bring their A game when playing at home - with the support of the crowd, and the confidence to win on their home turf.
Without that DM cover for the back four you risk losing the match easily

It depends. If you have CM's who are patient in possession and aren't wasteful with passing, then against teams like Bolton you don't need a DM as such. Unfortunately, Gerrard likes to inject pace in the game which means that passing can go astray, and Adam doesn't look fit enough to win back possession when he loses it.
Does Man Utd have a dedicated DM?

Alan is no mere fairweather supporter. In fact, if Liverpool were to start doing well, he'd probably start supporting Chelsea just to have something to moan about.

If a team is defending stuck in their own half they can't attack. Any attempted counter attack should be dealt with by the back 4
The only reason you think the game needed a DM is because KD's tactics allowed Bolton to attack. If both teams have a go then fine LFC must back themselves to win.

Kenny will probably define the current season as work in progress.
Only realistic chance of silverware lies in the League cup and FA cup. HE KNOWS THAT.... but wont admit that in the media.
LFC's season will be somewhat of a success should they win any trophy considering the drought. Should they fail on the home front and still end up performing poorly in the league.... the owners will have to hang him by the balls.
LFC is not a club that changes managers seasonly..... Kenny will still be given another year or so to improve.

No, he shields the back four, making interceptions and tackles. How often do you need a DM on the right wing, for example? In terms of your definition, Park is a DM then. But he clearly isn't.

I wouldn't even consider Parker a dedicated DM. More a box to box midfielder. He's not shy to get forward. Wilson Palacios was a DM.
So both Spurs and Man Utd don't have a dedicated DM and both the play with wingers.

It's just weird to me how people's opinion about someone can change. Many, if not all Liverpool supporters hated Lucas when he started at Liverpool and look at him now. One of our best players on the field, when he played. Yes we had a scrappy few games, not too sure if it is the players or tactics.
But one thing that I have noticed is that, when KK started we played carpet football and scoring some goals. Now we play with the ball in the middle and then try and cross it into the box. Why not try and dribble the ball into the box and create chances. And that's why I will make this comment. Liverpool plays to defensively and I blame the manager for that. Home or away, we only play 1 striker and our attacking midfielder is usually sitting outside the box or on the halfway line.
How are you supposed to score goals if you don't have bodies in the box ? Take Utd for example, yesterday against Arsenal. They had at least 2 or 3 players in the box for the wingers or to tap in the rebound.
I Love KK, but if he is not going to change his style of play or get the players to play together as a team. He has to go. If he does not make Top 4, even if he wins FA Cup and Carling Cup. I'm sorry, but he has to go

So both Spurs and Man Utd don't have a dedicated DM and both the play with wingers.Yeah he may not be a dedicated DM but I think the box to box MF is better and adds to both Attack (extra man going foward unlike the dedicated DM) and Defense (Well he does cover the MF and Denfensive areas by getting back and giving cover or chasing opposition MF's from their half and not allowing them to attack or freely attack)
But I agree that we play play with wingers as our main strenght and the awesome wingers we have coupled with the attacking FB's cover for our inept MF (and lack of DM or box to box MF)

Some quickies for tonight:
Liverpool only need a 0-0 draw tonight to progress. Andy Carroll will deffinetely start
Andy Carroll is 6-1 odds on to score tonight. That means if you bet $10 you will lose $10.

Imagine he scores a hat-trick tonight :D
Scored two against Man City last season so why not
Hope I am wrong, but I don't see a win for pool tonight.
Depends how KD sets them out. If he does what he did against Stoke it will be a walk over.

Sad, but perhaps the stature of LFC has proved to be Carrolls downfall.
He probably would have scored more goals had he stayed with Newcastle.
We have seen so many strikers struggle at making the leap at a bigger club.
I say Henry and co should try a swop deal with Chelsea including Carroll and Torress ;)
Carrol is the new Lucas. Give the boy a chance ffs

City are not Stoke and if Kenny adopts a wait and see attitude trying to put in a defensive performance and protect a single goal lead...it will fail miserably.
This tie should have been done and dusted in the first leg... L'Pool should have been 3 up after 20 min away...
1-0 is far to dangerous to sit back and protect, worrying thing is where the fark are goals going to come from ?
Agger perhaps might get lucky and score from a deflection, gerrard could dive and win a penalty.
I really have no clue as to who else will have any say in scoring...yeah its that fukin bad !!!

If he only comes have half the player he was before he was injured he will still be better than Adam. I'd rather play Lucas in midfield tonight on crutches than have Adam running into people allnight giving away free kicks.
SinghDude

Adam concedes free-kicks so as to give opposition teams a chance to practice their training ground routines..... Notice how its always just outside the box... Almost poetry in giving opposition players a chance to snap up the back page headlines weekly !!!

Yeah. :wtf:
From Reddit:
Just looking back over our road to Wembley and you have to be so proud of the team. Beating Stoke and Chelsea away from home, getting a result away at City and then tonight's performance. No one can accuse us of having an easy route to the final. If we win it's well deserved.

Now last nights performance reminds me of the type of football Pool played when Daglish just took over. Playing the ball on the ground and creating spaces. Lets continue playing this type of football and really hope the boys don't get stage fright and think Cardiff is going to be a walkover.
Like many Pool supporters, nerves are shot. But definitely not complaining. Now just to beat the other Mancs and this week will be in contention of being the best week of my life for a very very long time.

Haha...that was kind of funny. I also thought wtf is he doing strangling de Jongh. Just goes to show that when it comes to certain players you don't give them the benefit of doubt in those situations.
He did have a nice little "fresh air" in the box though. Sure he would have taken some stick in the dressing room for that.

Aye, the lad did at that. ;) Can't remember, the commentator said something about the value of the City team on the park when Bellamy scored being something like £190M... As far as I can see, their best buy, by a country mile, is Joe Hart.

What a great match! This is how Liverpool were playing at the start of the season and it is very encouraging to see how well our new signings have been performing. I think people should lay off Downing a bit. He had a good match as did Adam. Henderson is justifying why he starts in almost every match.
Kuyt played with a lot more control and our defense was solid bar a few occasions. Enrique has to be the coolest defender when pressured in his own half.
Gerrard played like a true champ.
Bellamy was just fantastic! What a fighter.
Overall it was an encouraging match because it shows what our players can do. We need to continue with this fiery and positive attitude.

Strange from Liverpools performance I thought they were average...
1. Gift penalty
2. 16 shots 13 on goal only scored 2 and one based on see point 1
3. The outcome was a home draw
4. Possession of 44% against City's 56%
5. City's 8 shots 6 on Target and 2 goals
It's very worrying also lets not forget Liverpool is suppose to play better against top opponents the final is against Crystal Palace...
I think pool needs a ton of improvements

1.Handball in the box, penalty for me. It's called football for a reason.
2.Nothing new for us.
3. Yes a home draw, but we won 1-0 away from home. Beating Man City over 2 legs is big achievement I think. 3-2 on aggregate.
4.Not sure how this is relevant.
5.De Jong's strike was a wonder goal, I want to see any keeper in the world save that. The other one meh...
The final is actually against Cardiff, but it seems you are just sour because Crystal Palace knocked you out of the cup. Check your facts before you post.
