Just goes to show how poor Liverpool are. Norwich and Swansea both 3 points behind Liverpool, Everton, who never have any money to buy players, ahead of Liverpool. Sunderland will probably over take Liverpool next weekend as well.
Looking more and more likely that you guys are gonna end up in the bottom half of the table.
Perhaps I should take up drinking....

I gotta say, Liverpool didn't play well enough to win but they got utterly no love from the ref. Perch pulled Suarez down blatantly, should've been booked. Cisse was miles off for his goal.
The 'penalty' appeal from Carroll was ludicrous though so doing themselves no favours there.

Watched the first half. Last time I felt like this was watching rafas drivel towards the end. The frustration etched on the players was obvious. They frustrated with themselves or management? I haven't seen the headbutt but its out of character for pepe. Not good signs for kenny if the players are frustrated. Stevie is totally out of it. He strides towards the box and then passes? Passes? Bloody hell you know his gonna kick when he gets there. Somethings wrong in the team and as a fan its very disappointing and frustrating.

Metro: Liverpool set to beat Spurs to Adebayor deal
Tottenham look likely to end an impressive season on a miserable note by losing star striker Emmanuel Adebayor to Liverpool.
The Togo hitman has been on loan from Manchester City this season and has spearheaded a Spurs attack that has fired the club to within touching distance of a Champions League spot.
Spurs are keen to keep him at White Hart Lane on a permanent basis but, according to Caught Offside, may be about to pull out of a deal because of the player's excessive wage demands.
With Roberto Mancini blessed with an abundance of attacking talent at the Etihad Stadium, that will leave Adebayor looking for a new club.
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is known to be a fan and is ready to splash out on another striker this summer, to add to existing big-money purchases Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez.
Adebayor has scored 11 times in 26 Premier League appearances for Spurs and offers a proven record of hitting the net.

Adebayor at Tottenham has Bale, Modric and VDV.
Liverpool have... Gerrard (who is no spring chicken, let's be honest).
Former Liverpool skipper Sami Hyypia has been placed in temporary charge of Bayer Leverkusen after the Bundesliga side sacked manager Robin Dutt at the weekend.
Leverkusen suffered their fifth consecutive defeat on Saturday, losing 2-0 at home to SC Freiburg, and the club have now turned to reserve team coach Hyypia, who will work alongside Under-19s coach Sascha Lewandowski.
The Werkself are seventh in the Bundesliga and ex-Reds defender Hyypia hopes to lead the club into the Europa League over the final six games of the campaign.
"I am convinced that our side is strong enough to reach this goal," said the Finn, who hung up his playing boots at the end of last season.
"We need to give self-confidence back to the players. We had 11 players on the field against Freiburg, but we did not have a team out there. We have got to show that we will give everything to be successful.
"For that to happen, we need to become closely knit as a team and we also need the support of the fans to achieve our objectives."
Hyypia, who became a firm fans' favourite during his two seasons as a Leverkusen player, can certainly expect to be given more of a chance than Dutt was by the supporters.
After axing Dutt, Leverkusen managing director Wolfgang Holzhaeuser said: "We simply had to act and set a marker to reach our season's goal of international competition."
Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller added: "With the Hyypia, Lewandowski team we want to turn things around and get back on track. The team is now under greater obligation. We demand more at Bayer."
good luck to Sami

Ten facts to put Liverpool's dismal league campaign into context (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/apr/02/liverpool-dismal-league-campaign)
1 If the Premier League had started on New Year's Day, Liverpool, with eight points from 12 games, would be 19th in the table, with only Wolverhampton Wanderers below
Top six
1 Man Utd 28pts
2 Man City 26pts
3 Newcastle 23pts
4 Sunderland 23pts
5 Arsenal 22pts
6 Everton 22pts
Bottom six
15 Wigan 13pts
16 Stoke 12pts
17 QPR 11pts
18 Aston Villa 10pts
19 Liverpool 8pts
20 Wolves 5pts
2 Liverpool are 16 points off fourth place and entry into next season's Champions League qualifiers, their stated aim at the start of this campaign. They are closer to the relegation zone, being only 14 points ahead of 18th-placed Queens Park Rangers
4 Tottenham 58pts
8 Liverpool 42pts
18 QPR 28pts
3 Liverpool have lost six of their last seven league games. The last time they endured such a poor run of form was in 1953-54, when they were relegated
4 1953-54 was also the last time Liverpool had such a poor points per game ratio in the top flight (correcting the discrepancy of the old two-points-for-a-win system). Liverpool's current points per game ratio is a lowly 1.35, 42 points in 31 games
5 Liverpool's goals per game ratio is 1.16, 36 goals in 31 games, making this Liverpool team the least frequent scorers since the 1991-92 season under Graeme Souness
6 Liverpool have never had a season in which both their points and goal per game ratios were so low. The closest is 1923-24, when they recorded 41 points in 42 games (0.98) and 49 goals (1.17)
7 Liverpool's home form has been particularly poor, winning only five of their 15 games at Anfield, or 33%. Again we need to go back to 1953-54 for the last time when they won so few, seven of 21 in the relegation season
8 Liverpool's goal difference is +3. Liverpool have not had such a low goal difference at the end of a season since 1964-65, when it stood at -6
9 Liverpool's top scorer in the league is Luis Suárez, with seven goals in 26 games. Only once in the Premier League era have Liverpool gone through a season without one of their players reaching double figures in league goals, 2004-05 when Milan Baros scored nine times
10 2004-05 was also the only Premier League season in which Liverpool finished below Everton in the table. But Everton, in seventh, currently sit one place and one point above Liverpool

DALGLISH TO SUBMIT REPORT
We'll kick off with some managerial gossip this morning, with reports that Kenny Dalglish will have to explain Liverpool's Premier League slump as FSG review the team's progress.
There are some juicy claims around, but the Daily Express has the pick of them, saying that Dalglish will be asked to submit a written report to the club's owners. The paper doesn't believe that Kenny's position is under immediate threat, but if he gives himself a few As it might help his situation.
Steve Clarke and Damien Comolli are also being asked to provide an account of the team's season, and hopefully the trio get their story straight, otherwise there could be some pretty embarrassing finger-pointing over who chose to sign Jordan Henderson.
The Daily Mail back up the line in the Express that a 'strategic review' is to be held, throwing in a dose of John Barnes' opinion for good measure. Barnes said: "In the league they have not been consistent enough - and that is what doing well in the league is all about, being consistent week in, week out."
The key point being made is that whichever way you look at it, Liverpool haven't been this bad since the 1950s. Hopefully Kenny hands his homework in on time.
maybe there is a silver lining after all if it gets FSG to abandon their moronic "buy average English kids" policy

A few one word/namers now - nicest footballer you've ever interviewed?
Maybe I'm easily swayed, but footballers are mostly a lot nicer than you expect, particularly the foreign ones. Juan Mata is a really good lad, so are Alejandro Faurlin and Phil Neville and Milan Jovanovic was the most effusive. He seemed to enjoy the experience. He hugged me at the end. The South Americans at Liverpool are lovely - Maxi, Lucas and even Suarez - but the one I got on best with was probably Raul Meireles. You'd want to be mates with Raul Meireles.

We gonna kill villa! Carroll hatrick + downing with a couple. Doni with a penalty save but gonna have another sending off though!
Sticking with training-ground bust-ups, former Liverpool winger Albert Riera was sent to hospital with a bloodied nose and a broken ego after trading blows with Galatasaray team-mate Felipe Melo during training this week, according to El Mundo Deportivo.
Turkish club Gala have since confirmed that there was indeed an "incident" between the feisty pair but remained tight-lipped on the details, insisting "the club has a policy of dealing with disciplinary matters internally".
However, round one of the bout is believed to have kicked off during a practice match when Riera took exception to an overly-strong tackle from former Juve midfielder Melo and the duo started swapping punches.
After being sent from the pitch by manager Fatih Terim, "the tension between the two continued" and Melo reportedly won round two in the changing rooms to claim the crown of Gala's premier pugilist. Riera was apparently then sent to Bahcelievler Medical Park hospital, but it was his pride that suffered the biggest damage.

And seriously, this wouldn't be a problem if Virgin Active put TVs near their flipping treadmills. What's up with that. 4 of the 6 I've ever been to have got them pointing away from the TV. Thinking about it, Big Eck's teams are super defensive and we haven't been able to break down anything resembling a half decent defence (not to mention hit inability to hit the side of a barn from 5 meters out) so this probably isn't gonna be the prettiest match ever played.

At least LFC play some better football under KD.
The football under Woy was abysmal.
Possession stats to put things in perspective: Liverpool 70% - 30% Aston Villa
Carroll should start every game. Suarez can't play as a striker, I think he does much better as a wide forward. Coming in from wide where he has a chance to do something.

If we can see it, why can't our manager. I was just off my prediction! Next time. If u get 70% possession we should be killing teams. How could this be donis first game of the season? Criminal negligence by kenny.

70% of possession doesn't mean much if you're too deep, can't move the ball around quickly, accurately or with much purpose, don't support your big lug of striker who's winning balls for nobody to pick up and Jordan Henderson.
That said, how they responded after going behind was pleasing. If they played like that more often they'd be closer to the fight for 4th instead of the fight to stay in the top half.

Erm... The same FSG that own the Red Socks, you know, the team that went 86 years between titles? I'm with nivek and Randhir here... We already have the Carling Cup, you know, our first cup in 6 years, and, lest you forget, that also gets us into the Europa League next year. There's a semi with Everton at Wembley next weekend, you know, for the FA Cup, so we're still on for a double and that hasn't happened since our treble in... wait for it... 2001.

It's highly unlikely that any of the players that played yesterday will start on Saturday, besides the back four and the keeper.
I did not watch the whole game, but from what I saw. Spearing is losing it a bit, why not play Shelvey and Gerrard in the middle or even try Henderson in the middle with Gerrard playing down the flanks.
My team prediction for Saturday:
Jones
Johnson/Flannogan Agger Skrtel Enrique
Henderson Gerrard Spearing Bellamy/Maxi
Carrol Suarez

How is Johnson/Flanagan even a choice, Flanagan's shown some promise sure but he was a moving train wreck waiting to happen yesterday, if he'd stayed on we would have been down to 9 before long, and wasn't much better against Villa. I'd put Carragher in at LB before him for a crucial derby game. Have to play Suarez and who's doing the DM work while Shelvey & Gerrard maraud up top? Kelly's not a left winger either?

Totally agree, but one question. Is Kelly fit to play ?
And I think it is highly like that he will start with Johnson, but substitute him on 60. He is our preferred RB. Definitely Kuyt over Carrol, yes Kuyt did not have a great game against Villa, but he works harder than what Carrol does and Carrol can't header a ball on target to save his life. Last night was just a fluke.
Why not try Carragher in the CDM position, with Gerrard pushing up. Carragher knows how to take out players, yes he is slow. But if they do pass him, at least he has backup behind him with Agger and Skrtel.
Shelvey and Gerrard both like pushing forward, there it will probably be Spearing in the middle.

The chairman is saying the club is still fully behind Kenny, and I agree with it, he will still get another season to mold the team. Source (http://www.thisisanfield.com/2012/04/kenny-dalglish-staying-as-liverpool-fc-pledge-full-support/)
Regarding the other staff, the performances not all directly their fault, but I suspect it is still part of a restructure or rebuild process of the entire club from FSG, getting new ideas and techniques into place and that sometimes means out with the old and in with the next school of fresh thoughts/mindsets.

So the team is Jones - Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Agger - Henderson, Gerrard, Spearing, Downing - Carroll and Suarez. Subs are; Gulacsi, Enrique, Maxi, Kuyt, Shelvey, Kelly and Bellamy.
EDIT: For the sake of fairness, 'cos it's a derby and all... Everton: Howard - Neville, Distin, Heitinga, Baines - Osman, Gibson, Fellaini, Gueye - Cahill and Jelavic. Subs: Hahnemann, Hibbert, Jagielka, Stracqualursi, McFadden, Coleman and Anichebe

He's on the bench... should have started at LB, with Skrtel and Agger in the middle.

Deserved lead.
1. Poor team selection
2. Poor tactic
3. Wrong people getting fired

Agreed. We usually roll over everton but today we are setup very defensive. Did we smack them 3-1 in this season? But I remember them putting us out of the advanced stages of the leaugue cup in recent times. Not good enough kenny!

LFC tend to do well in cups... And can easily beat most teams on their good days!!!

Big difference was that we pressed forward and did not try to play in our own half, as compared to first half.
Wat abt Downing, he has done well for villa and eng on the right, he should play there more often.
And poor hendo.

I'll take my hat off to Kenny. He really brought out the best of the team in the second half. However, we cannot play crap one half, and very good in the second half. We need to be consistent.
But really happy that we won !!

Then Torres who left us to win trophies can stand on the side and watch us lift the FA Cup.
Prefer Chelsea too
terrible game to watch but got the result....
Next season Kenny will be in a 'padded' dugout /me thinks

Spurs for sure. They far more fragile under pressure and that blue No. 9 doesn't deserve a Wembley apperance.

Lol ha ha!!! I think we have a better chance against chelsea . But then again spurs haven't been that great lately where Chelsea has improved so its a tough one.
