Mods, please make a poll out of this.
As the title said - how many of you would like to use an Ethernet device instead of the USB device?
regards
Libs
*puts both hands up*
Just let me pay the cash upfront for the device too. No contract. Or open up the network and charge guys R100 or whatever to lock the device to my account or whatever CDMA needs. Then I could buy any device I wanted, probably import it for the cheap and I would be happy...

Yes please... I want the device up front. If not then I want a contract that states they'll upgrade it :)

Yea me too, I like collecting ethernet devices as I change ISP's (WISP -> ADSL -> CDMA) :o
One of these days I'll have every possible device required to connect to any technology available :D

I use a USB iBurst modem atm. I'll change over to Neotel Uncapped either way,
I download my Apple updates on my PCs and transfer across ethernet cable to
my Mac. Still Ethernet and USB together would be cool.

What I want in order of importance:
1. Coverage
2. Calls without internet being paused
3. Ethernet (with support for PPPoE)
4. RJ11 (Fax / External Telephone support)

I won't even consider Neotel as an option unless they have an ethernet based modem/router.

But guys, this device has been so well researched and Neotel are really adamant they know what we want.

I like USB, it means that it's difficult to share my connection with my GF, and that adds to the harmony of the house.

Well, they have my details, they know i want to join their network ASAP - but when they call, i'll tell them, you'll have one more customer if you give me a device with Ethernet

This is the only place that I vote!
Ethernet device please!
As much as I hate saying this, an application for ADSL has been submitted.
Will not move until
Uncapped, Unshaped, Red UTP CrossOver from Neotel to IPCOP working, uninterupted by telephone call, affordable and available in my area.

I can see a lot of guys still holding onto their ADSL for a while, so having a USB device to use as a backup, or on a standalone computer makes sense. The portability of the phone is the key.

Agreed with that, BUT this is also keeping potential clients away who does not want an USB device.

If it's 1000 ethernet = Yes
100 ethernet = USB faster
Would depen for me in what kind of speed they would be able to offer.
Need for more speed!

Yup - without an ethernet option I will stick with Telskum.

At the time of counting, 7 forumites did... but the overwhelming majority wants an Ethernet connection.
Wonder who it was who voted for USB... :D

Makes no difference if the internet connection is only 2.4Mbps.

That's why i said, "depending on connection speed".
Then 10/100Mbps will be fast enough, but usb would be nice added convenience. It doesn't cost that much just to add a USB port also?
How would the Bandwidth,throughput,..etc compare(USB VS 10/100/1000)?
Would it actually make a difference?

I sincerely doubt people in places like Japan use only USB devices and not routers - despite their internet exceeding average LAN speeds in places.

Why? Neotel is cheaper per gig anyway?
R59.90 a gig on their 10gig package, with their 15gig package making it R46.60 a gig.
Also do you really think Neotel would spend all the money deploying towers and then let you buy bandwidth from other isps?

its easy actually. What if I only need local access for, lets say, vpn's? or if I want a group account... or uncapped... etc etc, the list goes on.
There are many reasons to have more isp's involved in reselling neotel's bandwidth when all the undersea cables have been implemented.
i never mentioned that these isp's should only use neotel's infrastructure, they must resell neotel bandwidth in different forms like what we are getting today from the many isp's out there.
Moederloos

Reselling and different ISPs should be a given.
Or will everyone be happy if you can only buy DSL from Telskum?
