View Full Version : What happens after 24 months
Hi,
If I'm not mistaken, during the first 24 months of the contract you pay for the modem+isp fees. What happens after 24 months? Does the rate drop, due to the modem being paid up?

factoring in inflation and the normal price hike each year to "beat" inflation... probably not, let's hope so though...

Like the Cellphone industry, this technology is growing very rapidly.
By the time your 24 month contract is over, new modems with low pings, high thoughput, new packages etc etc will be the call of the day and the chances are you would have taken a new contract out long before your current one has expired.
The 4G technology is already being tested in the US which gives a 16 mbit throughput plus a host of options [:)]

remember boys and girls this is sa here that kinda speeds will only be seen here in 10 years time maybe.[;)]
but even inflation cant raise the price that much at most theres gonna be a 20% increase of the cost of the service. but most isp's hold their prices steady for longer than 2 years. even telkum only raised their prices i think by 2% this year.
Proud South african rip offs.

My understanding of the contract is that the price wont change after the 24month period (except for increases ... and maybe decreases)
You pay a subscription fee monthly. It does not say including modem or anything like that. They give you the modem. Same as with mtell, I pay a monthly service fee. after 24 months, they dont decrease because my cellphone is paid off.
So that's why I always renew my contract, cause else I'd loose out.

At the very least they should offer a new modem or increased bandwidth if the price is going to remain the same. Perhaps ProAsm could enlighten us as to what happens after the contract period?

I really have no idea, contact someone in marketing and ask them but I think the answer you will get is similar to my one above [:)]

Your subs cover the modem and the bandwidth. Cell providers cover the cost of the phone the same way, not to mention prepaid minutes ... They dont decrease the rates, but they do provide the option to upgrade/swop your phone for a new one.
I think Elax asks a very good question. Do they cover this in the contract?
