Jozi FM addresses matters of local and community interest.Hu? A local radio station on a (nationwide / 1/2 the african continent) satellite service?
Smacks of under the table dealing.
How about BBC Radio 1 , that's something allot of South African would listen to.

History channel, from an 18 hour to a 24 hour broadcast service from 3 August 2008. The History Channel’s extended hours will be broadcast in three eight hour loops.
So does that mean the same stuff is repeated every 8 hours.

Hmm yes the reason I have a tv, satelite dish and a DSTV decoder, is that I want to listen to the radio. Who needs a radio after all when you can use your satelite dish, tv and decoder to do the same job Only one obstacle remains, building all that into my car :p
has anyone with a sd-pvr noticed the video on demand feature in the latest firmware software ?

Yay! 24 hour History. It pissed me off when they cut off a doccie at midnight eventhough it wasn't finished!!!
"enhances"? How is this considered an enhancement? Adding more repeats of one channel, and adding radio stations is not an enhancement. Nice for radio stations enlarged footprint, but the average consumer got nothing out of this deal.
How about MTN dance.
Look at what the UK has. www.virginmedia.co.uk
Now that's value for your money.
all i know is that someone is clutching at straws to justify a price increase. the question is: the previous one or the next one?

I read in the Skottel mag, that there will be 3 new channels aswell soon. BBC Entertainment was one of them, not sure about the other but think its also BBC channels.

Now you can listen to more radio using your TV... wow... rocketscience.
I can picture it now - whole neighbourhoods of teenagers with Multichoice decoders on their one shoulder, satellite dishe on their heads and UPS' on the other shoulder - the beat goes on...

It seems that BBC Entertainment doesn't show in the UK, or that is according to their website (http://www.bbcentertainment.com).

All I want for christmas is a PVR Firmware upgrade. Timebased recordings suck. They should spend more time enhancing the pvr features rather!! :(

Using the words "Multichoice" and "enhanced" in the same sentence is like saying that Eskom is a World Class, Superior Electricity Provider!

Those channels should have been added on the Free-To-Air Vivid bouquet from Sentech, where GoodHope and a lot of other stations are. But now I have to get DSTV to be able to listen to them. Sucks balls

Why would I want to browse away from a TV station onto a Radio station when I could simply flip the switch on my stereo?

Some of those station are not available in all regions of South Africa. Like Highveld is not available in CPT, and KFM not outside the Western Cape.

Of course not. I would find it "weird" to listen to a Pretoria station if I live in Cape Town and visa versa

There are a lot of people in other parts of the World and Africa who appreciate being able to get these stations however they can.
There was a lady on Highveld this morning who was raving about the fact that she can now listen to Highveld via DSTV in Botswana.... in fact, that is what Highveld's daily "Global High" is all about. Listeners in other parts of the world dedicate a song to ppl in South Africa.

yep - pity we don't get satellite radio here... you need decoders and a tv set

We do get Worldspace satellite radio. They don't have so many SA stations though, only East Coast Radio and Jacaranda AFAIK. But they have Virgin Radio UK which is really good.
The extra stations give more choice really - if I don't like the breakfast show on one station there's more to choose from now.

How about BBC Radio 1 , that's something allot of South African would listen to.
The original story continues a misconception about the BBC radio channels available on the DSTV audio bouquet. Sadly, the 'BBC Radio 1, 2 and 3' it mentions is not the UK domestic service -- it is only different flavours of more or less the same international (shortwave) BBC World Service, in English, English for Africa, and African Languages.
Given the often-appalling quality of our own radio, it would indeed be truly splendid to get some quality domestic BBC radio services, particularly the wondrous BBC Radio 4 -- but at least if we're willing to pay the data charges, we can get its excellent stream on the web (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/progs/listenagain.shtml), either live or by hand-picking your own choice of programming.
Trencek, Thats is true.....
