I hate it when a thread has a interesting title with a boring post.
No matter the outcome, you can at least let us know what caused you to open this thread.

That's quite impressive, it automatically puts all your forum discussions on hold until you finish your phone call!

For clarification, I posted this thread directly initially, but very shortly thereafter yanked the contents and sent Neotel's rep a PM. Still waiting for a response...

Well I wonder what happen to him?
Perhaps he applied for the service, they told him, sir the service is available in your area..
Then when he gets the device, he finds out their is no service.

Neotel, also did something to us.
They told us, we are covered when we received the service, the device was not operational at all.

Neotel are probably not to worried about a small group of internet literate
people anyway - and even if 200 people read this thread that's a drop
in the bucket. If we were Luxembourg or something, maybe :).

hi all
i dont know why these big companies with customer service departments always seem to employ idiots-must be a pre-requsite for employment.
or they could be training/brainwashing these poor people how to reply to a question/enquiry.
i phoned neotels toll-freeno. last week in order to find out when my area of durban(phoenix) will be ready.
the guy on the other end was giving me a rehearsed line about"you can always be assured of our best service etc"
i almost swore him- please respond to my question & forget the bull**** they have trained you to say.
it turns out he had no idea.
anyways.....

hahahaha did they think they were going to get all those employees from transtel to jump up and start working?those people have year of experience in doing nothing slowly, they should have contracted all the services out just like they contracted out all the hardware to the chinese, then when you call you would hear "hurro prease,we attend you coumplaind"

The problem might be that CDMA, is an expensive technology to deploy..
Perhaps each base station cost around R15 grand to setup (Perhaps more)...
Then to find a HIGH Site, I think the problem could also be a highsite, environment issues etc

Quite frankly I think this thread (the title mainly) is a little harsh.
So here are my two cents,
To be perfectly honest i think you guys are being a little unfair on neotel, they have had some issues, but what company doesn't. Considering they have only been up and running with regards to consumer offerings for a very short while and they are still in the very early stages.
They have some issues and i will happily point them out, but to blatantly swear at/about them on a public forum is not on in my books. I am not trying to rip anyone a new one, i am simply stating that you should think before you post.
Now in terms of constructive criticism I am glad to point out the following issues which could be addressed,
Neotel has an extremely friendly staff on the support lines etc but most of the time they are less aware of whats going on than they should be. I am not trying to be funny, but half the time it appears the one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.
They still have some serious latency issues and i am not talking about high latencies as these i believe have been drastically inproved from when they first began, but the spikes are a real killer.
The frequent disconnects and network interuptions are a pain in the royal behind and while i realise they are often implementing changes i am sure these changes must be scheduled and therefore they should give their customers a bit of a heads up via email, etc.
In terms of scheduling and one of the things I stringly suggest is they should really have some sort of zone provisioning schedule, I.E. Cape Town, XXX suburb expected date of coverage. And some sort of time frame with regards to their consumer broadband offerings would really make alot of people happy. I am not talking about an exact date but i think the end of the year is nearing and according to neotel consumer broadband was supposed to be implemented in phases over 2008. Quite frankly 2008 is drawing to a close as we enter the 4th quarter and an estimate would go a long way to appeasing the minds of potential customers.
And, what i think is the most annoying and serious of all neotels faults is there somewhat automated or copy/paste style of responding to querries and providing info on their website. Don't get me wrong i am all for the automated response system as it can save a company valuable time and resources, but they really need to fix it because it must be broken. Receiving a response that doesn't not answer a question you have asked is just not on. Reading the FAQ's and finding a question that doesn't get answered is one of the most idiotic mistakes a webmaster can make in my opinion.
Sorry about the long post guys and once again i am not trying to scold anybody, I am simply stating that their are better ways of getting your point across than swearing and screaming. I am sure the neotel rep (another problem neotell should address as he is seldom here to address issues) will take a far greater interest in a constructive post than one made out of anger.
