Yup. International is completely Dead for me here on Neotel.

Give me your support ticket, once you lodge the call.
So, I have proof when Neotel tells me it is my problem only :(

A circuit carrying our international IP traffic was disconnected today at around 12:30, and was only restored shortly after 15:00. We will shortly be migrating this particular route to multiple, more resilient circuits, and do not expect to experience such problems in future. Neotel apologises to all customers who were affected by this interruption.

Customers who contacted the Neotel call centre were told of the problem, but please let us know if you feel we should have a more proactive mechanism for advising customers in such cases.

Maybe as an idea, have a site where customers can login to that will show network faults etc etc?

If you are aware of these disconnects beforehand why not send an email or even an sms to the device informing us of the expected down time and duration.

If you are not aware of the fault until it occurs it would still be nice to receive an sms explaining the problem as soon as possible rather than having to call the call centre. Unfortunately some of us rely on neotel for internet and wouldn't be able to get onto the internet to check a fault report website should the internet itself be down (a common occurance of late).

Dont think this problem is related to Neotel alone. Yesterday one of our neighbours called me over for help because their internet was slow and could not access certain websites.

I checked it out and everything was ok with the modem and PC. I could access local sites but international took forever or did not load at all.

This is with a telkom account.

I can confirm once again, no international sites are loading including is.co.za.
Once again my browsing habits have come to an end an early night for me today.

We have had some suggestions as to how best to inform our NeoConnect customers of down time (scheduled or otherwise), and will implementing something shortly.

Also, note that, although we cannot comment on the status of other international circuits, problems on SAT-3/SAFE can obviously affect multiple operators. We are improving the resilience of our international transit with multiple routes. Friday night's brief interruption was part of our reconfiguration to address the earlier problem, and this kind of interruption will be announced in future.

As a country, our reliance on SAT-3/SAFE will only really reduce once SEACOM is live, in mid-2009.

The Problem isn't exactly fixed, since Friday's problem both International and Local sites do not load at random times. Also on a few occassions no data transfer for periods up to 2 hours and Signal strength is not as good as it was prior to Friday - I have also reported that to the call centre.
