any1 know how to access a windows pc from a linux machine accross the network. or a linux machine from a windows machine?

try samba ( www.samba.org ) or you could use winscp ( winscp.sourceforge.org ). If it just a case of copying files across go with winscp as it's easier to to implement. If you want to beable to create shares on the linux box and have them available to your windows network then go with samba - requires a bit of RTFM.
