A couple of weeks ago I took a couple of pics in Jhb, on the way there and back. I opened a flickr account and uploaded ten decent ones although I only think about four are actually pretty good.

I know pretty much nothing on photography and only read some tips and things about it yesterday so my knowledge of the field is increasing. I now know how ISO works :D Anyway just wanted you guys to check out the pics I took and get some feedback. This was taking with my moms Sony W55 point and shoot, some while moving in the car so the focus is a bit out. I also down sized the resoloution just to make uploading faster.

Ok, at least now I know they arent that bad if I get a "Very nice" from a proper photographer :D

four trucks - nice colour

Maybe try rotating Mini windmills in the wind just a little so the poles are vertical? Should have some nice lines then.

and its sun not son :D

I saw some of your pics, very impressive.
I did edit the son/sun thing.... I only write English on Monday so its ok :D
How do I rotate it slightly? All the options I know are 90 degrees? And if I only rotate it slightly wont the whole picture just be skew?

About the four trucks, dude, you've got to work on your following distance - 1001.....1002....1003..... ;)

Thanks, I go to JHB fairly often and I also take for granted the bush that we drive past every time. A week before that trip, something just inspired me and the thought of photography seemed quite cool but I didnt know what to take pics of, even at first when I took those I wasnt really thinking that they are some nice pics, only when I put them on the PC, read about photography a bit and just fixed them up a bit that I realised we are in such a great country.

I never realised that seemingly boring shots can turn out so well.

What can I say... its home :o.... and I am english through and through, lol.
There is actually far more to the free state than that although it is mostly like that. There are some really nice places that could produce some great pics, Gariep Dam and Clarens... I wanna go there again...

I took a few more round the house although most of them didnt come out as I would have liked... in fact most didnt...

But the 3 I liked, which are all more or less of the same thing I put up.
Flickr is quiet cool I must say

but thats a start now you must play around with black and white shots and different angles or whatever. practice makes perfect my friend.

my brother submitted a few pictures to news24 showing those two boats that had run aground here in Melkbosstrand, so maybe you can do that sometime too.

Those boats would have to wash over a 1000kms in land.... :D
I just took a pic now of something extrememly random but Im not in the mood to upload it now... Ill do it tomorrow, you can pm me and tell me what you think when you see it ;)

what i meant was when you see something that may be of interest to someone (news worthy) you can submit it to a site like news24 or something.

Do they pay you? What are they terms&conditions with respect to copyright and ownership?

i dont think they pay you for your pictures i think you just submit them. if you want i can ask my boet again how he submitted his pics and get back to you if you want.

I think you submit them to news 24 out of free will, no pay or anyting. Look on the news 24 home page, I know it says somewhere submit oictures or something. And TB.... your dog scares me! :D

Not really, just started actually. Dont even have a proper camera, these are all from a point and shoot camera :o

no he uses Eyefetch and has or does a thing with his camera called Snoot it causes a spotlight effect, its quite cool.
