View Full Version : Do companies hire this time of year?
Do they or rather beginning of next year? Is it easier to get a new job now or next year?

They usually start advertising Nov/Dec to start in Jan/Feb as most people work out the year to get their 13th cheque before resigning.

Indeed
But sometimes you're lucky to find new job this time of year. I have been fortunate many times, to change jobs in November of the year.

Companies are always looking for good people any time of the year. Don't let the calendar year limit you. Decide who you want to work for and approach them.

I disagree... times are tough out there at present and companies are not hiring willy-nilly these days. And you can't expect them to manufacture a position for you when you approach them.

Amen.
Just watch the advertisements OR hand in your CV to a decent recruitment company OR ask within your network.

My company hires throughout the year, you just have to make the grade.

Making the grade Ah yeah I know exactly what you mean...
The company I work for always buys other companies and then absorbs their staff so the jobs we want and wait for get taken up by theses new people, whether they make the grade or not!!
I hate it!

It depends on what the need is like at the company.
four staff members resigned recently and we had to recruit.

They normally like to wait till the following year, as most people are not leaving their current jobs so that they can get their 13th cheque.

There are plenty of companies with end of March, June and September fas their respective financial year-end (and therefore different pay-out times for bonuses and 13th cheques). But forget about that and get your professional network going, on LinkedIn for example.
