Im getting an Intel quad core q6600 and want to know what is a good motherboard to buy for it, for gaming. I have a XfX 9600gt.

Price range till about R1500.

It currenly has a Intel Gigabyte G31 chipset so anything better than that.

Thanx in advance guys

Are you planning on overclocking at all?

I'm partial to the ASUS P5N-E SLI myself, but only if you plan on going SLI. Otherwise something like the ASUS P5Q will suffice :)

Not really, looking for something with good overall performance. Not really overclocking

Chances are that you won't see too much of a performance difference between the motherboards. I'd stick to that motherboard and upgrade something else, personally.

But if you're set on upgrading your motherboard then have a look at the P5Q or similar.

You only need to be fussy about a mobo if you're overclocking.
You may also wanna e sure that it will allow you to make upgrades at a later stage... Like maybe 1066 ram support etc

Ya looks like future proofing is a main concern. i probably wont be upgrading the motherboard so I think i'll go for the pearl creek or buffalo creek version of the intel g31 that supports 1066 ram

Well the Sli asus motherboard is still not a bad idea, I mean later if you need extra gfx performance u can always just buy another 9600GT so it will also be future proofing.

But if you still wanna overclock .. I agree with Techie ... Asus P5Q :) ... or maybe even buy a second hand P5K ... they are good boards too.

/Smirks ... I love my P5K Deluxe ... its so beautiful :) :) :)
