View Full Version : Marconi's new website
Hi folks
I have just received an email from Marconi informing me about their new website. It contains some valuable information about their ADSL modems and other products. The address is:
www.marconisa.co.za

Very slow site, must be hosted by Telkom [:D]
Hi Tharaxis
I have tested the link and everything seems to work. I don’t know why you are getting a blank page…

The marconi site works fine for me too
Needs Java plugin for applets - not the fastest mechanism for displaying page components...

Your current security settings prevent running activex objects multiple times.
I'll pass, thanks.

Site works fine here as well. The info on the ADSL router is especially welcome for some users on this forum I think. [8D]

sybawoods, that one takes me to a Marconi page, looks quite nice. However, www.marconisa.co.za just takes me to a blank page with the title "New Page 1".

Here's the page source, for what it's worth. Probably something to do with Microsoft's products, again. Maybe a Web developer on this forum can comment further - maybe also has to do with the browser you guys are using. Also does need a Java runtime on your PC for the applets to work...

<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">

its just bad coding on their part.
On the page titled "New Page 1" there is a script that *attempts* to detect your screen resolution. but as far as I can see they only support 640x480, 800x600 or 1024x768. if your res is higher.. tough luck. At first I thought they just didnt support Mozilla Firefox, But then when I tried with IE (wine emulated) I had the same problem. To get around this problem point your browser to www.marconisa.co.za/index2.htm
I regret the day I bought my marconi router. [:(]

*nods* I looked at the source too and noticed the resolution check. I however thought it would just revert to 640x480 if you have an unsupported resolution.
Lame... whoever designed that should be shot :D
Opening the page posted by lost(www.marconisa.co.za/index2.htm) actually crashes my IE. Their web design is as horrible as their modem/router design.

I dont think i would buy a morconi modem from telkom out of pure princeple ... i rathere buy it from someone else , yes the hate grows :P
