View Full Version : dirt inside lens
so i was having a look at the front of the lens and i noticed something that looked like a piece of hair thats sitting on the inside, around the middle of the lens. will this piece of hair affect the pictures? can it come in through the back of the lens and get stuck to the lens?

Shouldnt affect your images to any discernible degree. I've got an insect leg in one of my favourite lenses.
Which lens is it?
its the 28-300. not sure where its from and how it got there. i hardly take the lens off. but yeah. I took it to Katz now and they said they will send it to Sigma.

It probably got sucked in there when zooming.
How are you liking that lens?
How much are they charging to you clean it?
no im in PE. the lens is great hey. im really enjoying the wide angle and zoom in one lens.
They didn't give me a price when i gave them the lens and they made a copy of my receipt so i guess they're using the guarantee to sort it out? I hope they're not going to charge me

I'm still a fan of it too.
If you dont come right getting it cleaned - or ever need other camera work done - there is a guy out by Thesecome/Chelsea that's apparently pretty good. I'm going to be taking my 400D there in the next few days to get the sensor cleaned (Kats quoted r500 this guy is less than r300). I'll let you know how it turns out. :)
thanks bwana. ill keep that in mind for when i need my camera serviced. Do Katz even service the camera's themselves? because i overheard a guy there today speaking about sending a camera to camera tek. maybe they're just a middle man and make a few bucks on us ;)
i was pretty stupid. i gave my lens in now and i realised im going to Jefferys Bay this weekend, so i might lose out on some shots :/

AFAIK they send everything out. You've still got your kit lens right?
yeah i still have the kit lens. need to save up a bit until i can get the nifty fifty :)
hey Bwana, i got my lens back today. all clean and no charge. the guys said its covered under the guarantee which is pretty cool
