Some pretty impressive specs for a point and shoot.
I thought it would be a nice camera for my needs versus the money needed to be spent on a SLR with similar spec's & lens/s to get the same zoom.
Research has got a little worried re the sensor size tho
SX1 is 0.28 cm2
450D is 3.28 cm2
Another pic of the zoom capabilities here if anyones interested(off the same lens on a SX10)

http://www.pbase.com/gary/image/104626152/original.jpg You wont get the same quality of a dslr for that reason - they just jam all those pixels onto a much smaller sensor. Not to say the quality is going to be bad - probably far from it.
Pretty decent review out on the SX10

Pics look ok to my eyes, shall wait for a similiar review on the SX1 with its CMOS sensor (the SX10 is CCD) before deciding which.
Atm pricing at ORMS
SX10-R4995
SX1 - R7495
SX1 getting a little "extended" in price i thought.
Well Bwana i'm now an official SX10 owner.
Went & seen if i could find one today to have a feel of and ended up coming home with it.I'm not going to spend the xtra they want on the SX1 & driven myself half crazy looking at DSLR's also.
Decision made!
Now i just got a casual 289 pages of manual to study up on:eek:

Congrats! Flickr account - sig - upload... ;)
Flickr seems to mess around with drop out uploads so im trying PicasaWeb that seems to work better & in the file details expansion i can see what settings were used.
The good the bad + the ugly -
PS: when it comes to camera settings i'm as green as it gets -

Is the viewing any differant?Word of advice - don't put up anything larger than you absolutely need to. These days I stick to 1024x1024 which is plenty big enough.
