Dont know if u okes saw this.
Over the past few months, they have asked Messi who he think will win the award and he replied - he thinks ***a, Xavi or Ronaldo will win. They asked ***a and he said he thinks Messi should win. Ronaldinho has come out and said Messi should win but Ronaldo will probably take it. Ruud has come out and said that his vote is for Casillas but Ronaldi will probably win it.
Ronaldo's comments
"I am the first, the second and the third best player in the world. But there are other good candidates like K@ká, Messi and Fernando Torres," he said.
"I think I did everything that is necessary to win and I want to continue doing even more.
"My aim is to win everything that is front of me."
What an arrogrent prick. I am glad he isnt in a team i support, i hate his stinking attitude!!

Do you see messi diving every match?
Even if you google the words "messi diving" u get nothing in regard to him diving on the pitch.Thats how much of a reputation he has for diving.
Now if you google "ronaldo diving" almost every result of the 454,000 are of him diving.
I remember ronaldo making a big effort to get his "team mate" sent off in the world cup.
I'm suprised he can walk around when not playing football in his free time without falling every few steps.

HE is definately not in the best 3. Because of his stellar last season he has a high chance of winning it and no one is denying the boys talent, but he is not a big game player and that is where it counts. No one gives a toss about Peles 1380 goals he got while he was playing for Santos in Four leagues and touring the world constantly - they care that he scored 12 WC goals. 12!!!!! Ronaldo's a wet fart on the international stage as was proved by the Brazilians last night and the Russians at the Euro's. 42 is a big number, but only if you actually score against the teams that count.

Better yet why didn't the player that performs in a couple big matches but not the rest of the season get the award. In other words if you score ten centuries against Bangladesh, you are not as good as the guy that scores two half centuries against Australia. ***** you make me laugh!

6-2 loss for portugal and where was ronaldo....nowhere to be seen.

Ronaldo Tried To Break My Leg - Silva
Brazil emerged triumphant over Portugal on Wednesday evening in a thrilling encounter that bore eight goals, but not one of them was scored by last season's 42-goal forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
Portugal were on the wrong end of an embarrassing 6-2 upset in what is arguably Dunga's finest game in charge of A Seleção.
Cristiano Ronaldo grew increasingly frustrated throughout the game that he has even been accused of trying to purposefully injure a fellow professional's leg, while sulking around the pitch as he was continuously outshone by Brazil's samba stars.
Ronaldo's Box Of (Dirty) Tricks
Ronaldo grabbed Marcelo round the neck, and Brazil defender Thiago Silva believes that Ronaldo tried to break his leg.
The 24-year old Fluminense centre back is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: "He [Cristiano Ronaldo] has the cheek to say I jumped over his tackle. But if I did not jump he would have broken my leg.
"Being considered the best player in the world, he must have more respect. It is difficult to accept what he did. "
"He is a little [naughty], yes. But that is football. And we need to know to deal with it. He was nervous because he couldn't create anything," Silva concluded.
Disappearing Act
The Portuguese press have been critical of the anonymous Ronaldo, but national coach Carlos Queiroz has jumped to defend the Manchester United man.
"The formation is different and so are the players that work with him. We have to give him support and service so that Cristiano can show more of his football," he nodded.

Please... I never said he was a bad player or that his goals didnt count (only that they came in droves against mediocre opposition) - maybe a course in English would be of help to you...
However... he is a player that does not shine when he is needed and thats all there is to it. He had a phenomenal season - true. He is a superb footballer - true. He is the miles ahead of Messi/***a/Ronaldinho - not true. He had a fantastic side backing him up and two forwards that basically worked like horses to make him look good. Really great players make an avergae side look brilliant. Messi shines even when his teammates suck. Ronaldo fades when the pressure is too much.
Don't you think Torres deserves the award more than Ronaldo? He broke the record for most goals scored in a debut seaon in the premier league. Had an absolutely astounding season in the league and made his team look brilliant (without him, Liverpool would have rotted away mid-table) and he scored where it counted... in the Euro Champs. Ronaldo didn't. It's as simple as that. I'd take Torres or Cassilas any day over Ronaldo.

I agree with everything you said. One question you have to ask is, would Ronaldo have been able to score all those goals or perform if he didnt play for United?
If you look at a player like Robinho, he plays for City and performs almost every single game. Ronaldo cannot do that, he scored so many goals last season against teams that are nowhere near the best in the world.
Ronaldo is great, but he is not the best. I feel this year he is going to be shown up. The start of the season has already proven that Messi is miles ahead of him. This trend will continue till the end of the season.
...but why cant he show up for the big games? Why? I would really like to know.

Look, you never know - he might actually grow up. The boys got the talent to become the next "big thing" (and by big thing I mean in the rnaks of Pele/Maradonna/Puskas/Di Stefano). He could be considered the greatest talent ever to play - however, he needs to up his game big time to achieve that. Messi does not have the talent (and sheer physcial prowess) Ronaldo has, but he has guts and the mental strength to beat Ronaldo with 5ft cane. It's all up to Ronaldo whether he can actually use his potential to it's fullest. either that, or he becomes like Maradonna - a legend that never quite did his best (Maradonna himself says he would have been 3X the player he was if he had stayed off the coke)...
Genius.
20-11-2008, 09:17 PM
Funny how i agreed with you in an earlier post and in this one i 100% disagree.
Messi has more talent than Ronaldo. I have this debate with friends all the time and we sit for hours analysing youtube, footytube, dvds of both players.
One thing is extremely evident in all the footage we watch. Messi penetrates the defence like a hot knife through butter, it doesnt matter if there are 4 defenders - Messi will take them all on, beat them and lay it off to someone. They simply cannot take the ball away from him.
Ronaldo DOESNT DO THAT. Next time u watch him play, he does the step over so many times bu 70% of the time he doesnt beat the player. His best asset is doing the cross over and kicking the ball and sprinting to it. He is an awesome player, but if u compare skill with a ball - Messi will win it absolutely hands down.
Now Ronaldo might have other areas of his game where he excels in. Like free kicks, headers, speed. But for me, beating defenders is where the REAL ''skill'' comes into play.
smokey
20-11-2008, 09:24 PM
Apples and Oranges...
Skill with the ball is the be all and end all of footy. Off the ball movement, physical strength and using the proverbial head are all just as important... Thats my point... I won't argue that Ronaldo has better ball skills (because he doesnt and never will)... but again, as a COMPLETE footballer (all aspects of the game, averaged out) he is superior to Messi. I personally hate Ronaldo's step overs. They are ugly compared to the trickery that Messi produces. Just don't say Messi is as good overall as Ronaldo - because frankly he is not (atleast not yet... this dicussion would have more power when both players hit their late 20's). Until then - enjoy them both (I do) and wait for even better players to (hopefully) come along.
Genius.
20-11-2008, 09:33 PM
Ya, your opinion. I disagree.
Messi has always been better than Ronaldo. Do you watch La Liga every week? Answer honestly please. Cos if you do, you will know that Messi has been doing this every season. His better on/off the ball. He is a far better footballer than Ronaldo in every aspect of the game. Sure he doesnt take free kicks and is not as good in the air.
But those are two aspects that i dont rate as high as tearing a complete team apart with dribbling skill and superb passing. Please dont tell me Ronaldo can match Messi in the passing game, Ronaldo believes when he gets the ball, that he has to score. If he doesnt have the ball, he wants the ball - so he can try and score.
Messi is the complete opposite. Of course he wants to score, but whats more important is opening defences. Sure we can debate whole night about this, but its not gonna change anything.
Iv always believed Messi was better, and if u watch Argentina play or at least every week when Barca plays, Messi does things with the ball that players can only dream about.
This week when Barca took on Recretivo - i was surprised by the always BIASED English Sky commentators. They said,
''Ronaldo has had a great start to the season but there is no denying who the best footballer in the world is. Its Messi, nobody can come near him in football terms''.
That comment surprised me, i think it was the first time an English commentator actually said something non biased.

English papers/commentators are the most biased on the planet but after last season's barca v manchester game there was only one person they couldnt stop talking about and that was Messi.
They were amazed that someone could be that good at football. They even commentated how the old trafford crowd went silent when he touched the ball, in anticipation of what was to follow.

20-11-2008, 10:12 PM
Listen people - understand my point of view. Ronaldo is a better footballer when taken as a whole. On average you could say. Messi is a wizard with the ball and is far stronger mentally. It's the mental aspect that is key here - because of that he has the determination to always get the ball and keep it under any circumstances. It is because of this that I think he is a better player - not necessarily a better footballer (when taking all skills in unison) than Ronaldo.
SuPaStA
20-11-2008, 10:18 PM
You need to watch La liga every week to understand how good a player messi is. Understand that my point of view comes from watching both leagues week in/out.
look at the champs league game a couple of weeks ago, barca were on their way to their first loss (1-0).Messi comes on in the last minute and scores 2 goals in 5 minutes. These types of things he does countless times in la liga.

Yup, spot on. Ronaldo is nowhere near Messi. People go on and on about Ronaldo's season last year. They are quik to forget that Messi only played half the matches Ronaldo did, has a better goal per game average as well.

Yeah, it's kind of sad. I know if any player at Liverpool behaved in such a disrespectful way the fans would tell them to eff off. Even if it was Gerrard or Torres. They burnt Gerrard's shirt outside Anfield when he wanted to go to Chelsea in 2005.
But I guess United fans either have low standards or just realise that without Ronaldo they are nothing, so he can pretty much get away with anything(like getting his own team mate sent off in the world cup or claiming to be a 'slave'). Which if you think about it is probably why Ronaldo is so arrogant. kind of like a spoilt brat who knows nothing will happen to him when he catches on ****.

Look people - with all due respect to the real fans, the plastic brigade who only watch MU and nothing else think the world of him. These people piss me off. I'm actually fortunate to know a couple who openly admit they like MU because they always win. I don't argue with them because these are the types of people who wouldn't know what a fottbal is even if you tied it to a stick and beat them around the head with it.
Anybody who does love and follow footy with a passion - ie: they have watched other games apart from utd champs league matches will see that compared to the greats in history - pele, maradonna, zidane, puskas - he is subpar because of his bad sportsmanship and inability to focus when it counts (mental fortitude so to speak). otherwise - technically and physically - he is currently without equal (except maybe Messi and Bojan) though he does have a few years of experience on them.
