Methinks this type of derogatory posting would not maintain the esteem and respect in which the MyADSL site is currently viewed by the general public, not least through the efforts of peeps like RPM and THERODENT.
Personal attacks serve no purpose, but merely p**s people off. It's also true that if people are willing to be employed as apologists for others, this is symptomatic of their mindsets, and personal attacks or abuse will achieve nothing. On the other hand, if proven, evidentiary support for a contrary viewpoint is produced, this will quickly cause a change. Evidence of this will hopefully be forthcoming shortly from the likes of Sintech's apologists, given the actions of THERODENT. The sustained pressure from the public, union representatives, the media, SNO-to-be, other ministries, 'external imperatives' a la Nepad, the inability of ICASA to do it's job properly, and even relevant critical comment from this forum, will also shortly result in regulatory 'loosening' from Dr Ivy, I believe...
Hey, don't flame poor old Ivy, she's not incompetent, she's just been appointed outside her field of competence. She used to be premiere where I live, in the Free State, and I must say that she handled the job with distinction.
Sadly, it would appear that the ministry of communications was probably not the best post for her, perhaps a lack of understanding of the technology or issues surrounding telecommunications, caused by nothing but the generation gap, is what is causing Ivy to constantly appear in such bad form in her present job.
Suggestion to the government: We in the Free State would like our old premiere back, and I believe everybody in South Africa would like a new minister of communications, perhaps, this time, someone who understands the issues better?
Ivy was a fantastic premiere, but I'm sad to say that her performance with the ministry has been less than stellar. Perhaps one day these problems will not occur, when our dear government stops handing out positions purely as a political award, and starts appointing people in positions where they can do what they are good at. Ivy is just not cut out for communications, but I dare say, we'd all be better off if she was president.
My preferred cabinet reshuffle:
Fire Thabo, Manthu, and Charles Ngaqula
Make Ivy president.
Find a minister of communications who's under 30 years of age.
Find a minister of health who actually has more than one day of medical experience.
Give Rudy Guiliani citizenship and make him minister of safety and security.
And then:
Fire Martinus van Schalkwyk and replace him with a small shell script.
