Not sure this is true or not?
Have been told that even with 2 teams in the top 5 PSL rankings, very few Cape Town based players make the National squad.
Suggestions have been made that the powers that be prefer not to pick coloured players. Steven Pienaar and Davids being an exception.
I see that Ajax Cape Town (No1 in PSL) has no players in the national squad.
So whats the spin on this?

I would say that Bafana players aren't good enough to be Cape town players :D

And apart from Benni, none of those players you mentioned are in the squad.

There is a lot of truth in this. Cape Town based players have to be exceptionally good to get into the squad whereas the JHB guys only have to play for Pirates or Chiefs to get called up.
It is even worse at the junior levels.

Looks like Santana listened to our concerns RE the Cape Town based players:)
Joel Santana has announced his locally based squad to take on Zambia in Bafana Bafana's next International friendly ahead of the Confederations Cup.
Santana has decided to give the local based players another look in with Ajax Cape Town players Nazeer Allie, Brett Evans, Franklin Cale and Mabhudi Kanyheza all being rewarded with a call up after their impressive start to the season.
Kaizer Chiefs latest signing Abia Nale also made the squad along with teammates Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Siphiwe Tshabalala. Two surprise omissions however are Thanda Royal Zulu's Bernard Parker and Golden Arrows' hit man Richard Henyekhane.

Like in rugby, football in SA is also beset by a level of provincialism (and perhaps racism). Most of the noise being made about coloured players comes from newspaper journalists who have their own favourite players from the four "BIG" teams in Joburg.
