We are already half-way through the season and Chelsea sit 4 points adrift of the top of the English Premier League. Their season has been downhill since Scolari won Manager of the Month and doesnt show any signs of improving (despite the 4-1 win over Southend... a lower league side). The main gripes with Scolari is that his trainings have been discretely critisized and his man-management has been questioned.

Now... One the one hand, he has won a World Cup with Brazil and a couple of tropheys with certain Brazilian sides. Thats true. But he has also shown (fairly regularly) that he is incapable of making inspired substitutions and shows unabashed favoritism to players who are not exactly cutting it. Case in point - he lost twice to Greece on Portugals own turf.

Now the question is - can he change things at Chelsea? Everyone and his grandmother knows that his job is on the line, but winning is still important to the man. What do you guys think needs to be done by Scolari to turn the tide?

Come on, some thoughts people (and don't say sign a winger, because that is currently out of the question). Cheers!

Scolari doens't have what it takes to make it to the top in the EPL... he couldn't do it with talents such as Ronaldo, Quesremo (great touches but tempermental), Deco, Postiga, Tiago, etc... (Portuguese side)

I still wonder why they gave Avram Grant the boot. I mean he got them to the CL final and had Chelsea contending for the EPL right up until the final day.

I think Chelsea should get Guus Hiddink. :)

I've already done it - like 7 times. Then again, FM is just too bloody easy if you know the hax formations :P

My ideal manager for Chelsea would be Martin O'Neill (spelling)

Managers of country teams somehow never crack it that great as league managers.

I read an interesting article on Scolari and the writer claimed that the only reason he did so well with Brazil and Portugal was because they all came from the same background. At Chelsea he has players from all over the place and he is struggling to accomodate for all of them.

You could also say he has a different footballing philosophy and doesnt understand the english game. but then again, the adundabce of other foreigh managers trump that too. I still reckon he thinks he is managing a national squad and hasnt adjusted his mindset. With a few changes he could be doing better, but wehter he is the right man for long term remains to be seen.

Agree with the Martin O'Neill. Top draw Scottish manager whgo likes to play youth. Reminds me of a certain other scot. Though to be honest, I'd take that oke from Aberdeen. First time Aberdeen have beaten one of the Old firm since Fergie was in charge. Give him another year and lets see how he pans out.
