Might as well get something like this started: personally I think Ryan Giggs has been one of the most underrated player due to his affiliation to Wales..
Who else do you guys think and on what grounds?

Javier Zanetti. Never gets the credits the likes of paolo maldini gets even though he has been as good and virtually as long standing for us.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic also doesn't get the credit he deserves outside of Italy. People who don't watch him in serie a seriously underrate him.

I've watched him many times for team and country and I personally think he is overrated, hugely overrated.

Crouch for the Liverpool team by far. He is brilliant and it really annoys the crap out of me when Benitez only brings him on for 5 minutes.

Strongly disagree with that. Crouch came to Liverpool with a decent reputation and left with an even better reputation due to his time at Liverpool. He scored many goals, some important goals in the champions league. He scored a hatrick against Arsenal, some class long range and clever goals.
Got picked for the England team whilst playing for Liverpool.
He left because he wasn't in Rafa's plan but more importantly because he wanted regular first team football.
His stats: PLD 85 GLS 22
Still a Flop?

You don't watch him week in and week out.;) Also on sweden what do you expect him to do when has virtually no support in that side.
His stats tell all there needs to be said. You won't find many if any forwards with better records in the top 3 leagues.
2006/2007: 15 goals and 8 assists.
2007/2008: 20 goals and 9 assists
2008/2009: 14 goals and 6 assists so far

I'm speaking on the point of view of Benitez. Benitez clearly thought Crouch wasn't worth a dime. Why did he not see him as being worthy of being part of his plan?

You're right, I don't watch him week in week out but whenever I have watched him, he has been poor. It's just a personal opinion but I just don't understand all the hype about him. I'm sure there are plenty of people on here that would disagree with me.
His stats are impressive.

hahaha, sorry got my wires crossed. I thought your original post was on the 'Biggest Transfer Flop' thread.
Forgive me.
In that case, you're right, he was underrated, probably not the most underrated but underrated indeed.

oops I missed part: "Most Underrated players You've seen in your lifetime
I would say Makelele when he was playing for Real Madrid. At some point he was the least paid player in the team I think.

I agree. That dude controlled the entire game when he was on the field, and even though he got praise from the entire team, he was never a "star'.
Genius.

I would say Peter Crouch is very under rated. Agree with Stefan about Zanetti.

I agree with Stefan about Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Class player imo.
Also Ricardo Quaresma??? Seen some videos on youtube and damn he's good. One video I saw he dribbled through 4 Brazilian defenders. I cant believe this guy hasn't become reknowned as Ronaldo has...

Its because he hasn't performed at the big clubs. Didn't make it at barca and so far it isn't working out at Inter for him either. Skills wise he has it all but there's just something which is holding him back.

Didn't do much at Porto either but he definitely has the skills and class to be one of the best.
Genius.

He was AWFUL at Barca! He did pretty well at Porto - became pretty famous there. Thats what got him the Inter move.

i agree with you ,he has all the talent in the world but is very inconsistant ,and has a crap attitude aswell :(
smokey

he might be inconsistant for sweden, but he regularly plays well for inter (and juve way ack when). won't disagree on the attitude, because frankly - it does suck.
BTW: I don;t have a personal fave for most underrated but I would like to ship in with the player that didn't reach his full potential. Everyione knows him... Maradonna. Imagine what he would have been like if he wasn't wasted half the time he playing. Apparently, he was allowed to snort (everyone knew about it) unless it was a day or two before a game. I mean that is insane...
