It's 'Official' Barcelona is the best club in World Football!


Barcelona FC has been ranked as the best football club in the world over the last 18 years by the International Federation of Football and Historics.



The IFFHS released their findings yesterday in which Barcelona were the number 1 club side based on statistics since 1991, followed by Manchester United and Italian giants Juventus in third place.



The findings which are based on the position each team finishes in the annual world rankings as a scoring system shows that Barca beat their nearest rivals by a massive 79 points as a result of winning two Champions League titles and eight La liga titles during this period.



AC Milan in 4th place and Real Madrid in 5th rounded up the top five positions, with Inter Milan,Bayern Munich, Arsenal, River Plate and Chelsea all making into the top 10 rankings.

I think that list is accurate enough. Certainly IMO Barca have been the best.



Look where my beloved Liverpool are though:( *sigh*

If it was the last 30 years Liverpool would be top 3.

what criteria did they use? anyone know. would really love to know the weighting for different leagues and in different years. 18 years ago the italian league was THE dominant league in world football. then the egnlish started their ascendancy 7-8 years ago. spain were there somwehre inbetween and maybe a bit earlier so it would be interesting to see... also the fact that the english were banned for quite some time from european competition needs to be figured into there somewhere.

Chelsea made the top ten! w00t! and people said money cant by you greatness :P

and qwhy the hell did they make it for the last 18 years. ponces. i hate it when they dont have proper rounded numbers (5/10/15/20)

Spain have dominated the rankings since they started the Uefa Coefficient (which was in 1961), being ranked number 1 a record 15 times, then comes italy followed by england.

The reason these stats are only the last 18 years is becaues the IFFHS have only started their ranking stats since 1991.England was banned from 85-90 so these stats were taken after that.
