Any advice on how this is done?

I've called 10219 almost 10 times today, each time, I get told a completely different story.

The only similiar story is that I number 0800 203 736 must be faxed and request for it to be cancelled done.

I've done this 3 times and no one has called me back.

Any other ideas?

Oh; I've sent a request via the Telkom web site for it to be cancelled, I'm keeping all information incase I have to fight with them, but if anyone else has had to struggle and can advise me, let me know please.

Goodluck. Apparently you'll never be able to cancel.

HAHA! Ya!
I forsee drama coming!

But so long I keep all my 'communication efforts' and such - I can take it further with Telkom if need be.
I want to at least show I did my bit!

Maybe try a Telkom shop?

That is my next bet - trying 10210 one more time then going to take a walk to Telkom shop that is about 5 minutes away.

Okay, got though to someone on 10210.

He has done something to my line, basically - stopped it (apparently)
I still owe like R76.06 which I'll pay tomorrow.

But Friday I must call 10219, speak to "New services department" and then ask for "TOC" or something and check if they working on it.

All cancellations must be done in writing and sent off via fax to 0800 203 736 and you should expect to wait 24/48/72 hours before anything happens.

On that fax, you should include as much information about yourself / account as you can so it makes their life easier in cancelling your account.

This is all what the guy told me - so now - I wait!

That is so dumb. Why can't they put up an online system that will make everything easier or even just a quick call and once they confirm details, they cancel it. Honestly, these people are so far behind it's laughable.

Okay, anyways,

After phoning Telkom numerous times, speaking to different people on 10210 or 10219 or whatever other 102-- numbers I had to call.

I went to a Telkom Direct store, paid R76 whatever odd that I owed on my bill and then went to the sales consultants and spoke to a Finlay Peake.

I asked him to cancel my Telkom ADSL, line etc and he did it with a smile on his face.

So leaving the Telkom direct store, I think I may be rid of Telkom forever.

He did warn me of 1 more bill coming, but if I had any problems, I should contact him and he'll help me where possible.

So guys, LONG STORY SHORT!

Rather goto a Telkom direct store with your latest bill and your ID if you need to cancel your line because that seems to be the route to go.

Thanks for the headsup. Their telephonic support is a nightmare.
