I think the IPOD is the best MP3 player around. Let's deal with the 40 Gig one in this forum. It can store all the information you want and programs. It plays your music. The only thing to not like is the price! Please give me your thoughts!

Not sure if this it is the same model, but there is one with a feature that lets you broadcast on the FM frequency, so you could tune into it in your car.
Now thats kewl ;-)

I agree - I have heard you can use it as a external hard disk and as a address book as well. Nickste - you are right - its a little extra gadget called a iTrip (see apple.co.za) which one can buy for about R560. You can also buy tons of cool things such as adapters to let your iPod record your voice.
Hi guys
There is an FM adapter that one can use for any player that costs less than $ 10-00. You simply plug it into your cigarette lighter and plug in the source… Not specific to IPod, but still something worth knowing about. I have mixed feelings about IPop… I like to functionality and storage ability, but it is very bulky in comparison to flash drive players. I have an MP3 player that is just slightly bigger than the old R 5-00 coin (battery included!). It looks very similar to something a girl will wear around her neck. I don’t know if I would like to carry around an IPod simply for music… If it replaces a palmtop or mobile phone it is OK, but if not then no thanks.

What is the storage capasity? One could always get a iPod mini, smaller storage, but smaller. The iPod FM transmiter plugs straight into the top of the iPod (so it looks like it is part of the iPod) and does not have to be pluged into the cigarette lighter as it gets its power from the iPod (you may of course have to plug the iPod in if your battery is low)

Oh, IPOD Mini, more over-priced than the original IPOD[}:)], nice one Kilps.
Also there are lots of better MP3 players than the IPOD
-Go to www.pcpro.co.uk
-Click 'Reviews' & then 'Labs'
- Then a little way down 'Mp3 players'

Dominic Rooney what is your definition of over priced? Remember value for money. It may cost a lot but it is worth it!

I have a 256mb flash drive/mp3 (and wma) player and I’m quite happy with it. i get around 7 hours playback with one AAA battery. i mostly use it to take work home, but the mp3 playing capabilities are nice for when I occasionally travel on metrosnail (.co.za???).
What i would like to see though is a (1gb) USB flash drive with a built in charger (at an affordable price).

There are high-capacity Flash MP3 players, they just cost so much because Flash memory is far more pricey than an equivalent hard-drive.

I was speaking to someone who has an MP3 player and it cost them 800 rand! An IPOD costs approx. 1600 rand and it was more then 40 times the amount of space and it stores all your word docs and programs etc. [:)]

There's the link for you. A 40GB IPOD, which you said we were supposingly dealing with is ~R3600.
Oh and IPOD Mini's are about ~R2000.
So as usual, chamdo, you are talking absolute crap and there's no such thing as a R1600 IPOD.
P.S Chamdo you have repeatly put stupid comments on these forums and I advise to make intelligentcomments in the future.

And in case you were unaware, we live in South Africa, not China.

Nice one, nothing like lecturing someone on their grammatical errors and mangling the same language simultaneously, that takes a special kind of talent. Also buying an iPod in China probably qualifies as a grey import and could result in all sorts of warranty issues.

### What we need in South Africa is cheap 24/7, always on Internet for under R300 a month. ###
Hi Antowan
Well spotted!! I did some investigation and it did not come as too much of a surprise that kilps and chamdo has the same IP address! Cheap advertising…I should bill them[:D]

Me and Kilpin and Rooney all go to the same school (so obviously still being in school we have nothing to do with mac). Kilps introduced me to the forum and so much talk was made about the IPOD that I created a new forum. Also the forum about the mac was an argument between few people and few of these people had ever used a MAC.

WTF????
Kick him off because he has an unfair advantage? The only "advantage" required to debate anything is a fully functional frontal lobe, the ability to read and a modest grasp of the English language, not the number of post behind your name.

Chamdo, what 'unfair advantage' do I have? That I get debate better?
Because I know more than you?
Um. Kilps I can judge a few things without using a MAC.
-price
-Over-priced (gadgets *cough* IPOD)
-Software needed to run it like Windows Emulator (R1000), does that mean Apple have given up on dominating the market?
P.S RPM or BTTB, can you ban kilps and Chamdo for revealing personal infomation?

Let us first look at the bad things about Macs:
- not very good gaming support
- SLIGHTLY overpriced
Now let us look at the bad things about Windows
- unreliablility (I am experiencing problems with my Windows and I
suspect SP2 - I shall start a new discussion about this though)
- it looks terrible (like something from the stone age)
- hopeless support (I have been stumbiling through 'technitions' at
worlonline about a internet problem on the WIndows - no problems on
the Mac -AND Mac is running Mac OS 9.2 while Windows is XP with
SP2)
- Everything windows is 'best' - On the Microsoft website they do not
tell us about third-party software - while on the Mac websites you
can buy thrid party software
- HUGE errors - XP has got to be the biggest mess up ever - look how
often we have to download updates and SPs
- do I have to elaborate further?
Oh yes - how can you argue against Macs when you have never used one Rooney?
All that I ask is that you try out a Mac - kilps
Chris

Most of the 'bad things' on Windows are purely subjective (it's your OWN feeling) and not objective (as in facts)
