I wondered why when I was spending about R40 a month on GPRS I added up my airtime bills and found it to be a whopping R780 over 3 months! Instead of an advertised 60c its about R1.90 per mb. / 200%
I asked the manager at Virgin Adderly street Cape, on Monday last if he had ever heard of this - and he said NO.
I asked him to report it. escalate it or whatever fancy words they use.
Well I'm still waiting -
its Monday now I week later . Not a call yet.
I call the data dept. - and they say - you cannot speak to data dept- they will call you back- well they dont!
I want a refund on all these fraudulent charges that have been happening behind my back.

UPDATE JUNE 2009

Can you guys believe that after days and hours of calls to VMobile WOW department and Billing dept, that they, week after week are still giving me the run around about paying me back R780 (plus compensation for the time they have wasted) - that they stole from me by charging R2 instead of 60c. It is just shocking.
I am educated and fluent - can you imagine others less fortunate, trying to get back what has been stolen by Virgin Mobile!

It is now June 2009 and this saga started in Feb 2009

Whats backround updates got to do with being charged 200% for ANY DATA coming or going?

The problem started on about 03/02/2009. But you only get charged R2/mb if you are getting your signal from a Vodacom tower. If you get a signal from a Cell-C tower it's 60c/mb.
Apparently the problem lies with Cell-C, and no-one knows when it will be sorted out. Hopefully soon!!

I've discovered Cell C are the root cause to Virgin's issues. Especially when it comes to billing. I've been informed that Virgin's hands are tied when it comes to billing issues because they have to rely on Cell C's inept billing department and software.
And yesterday when I called 123 there's even a message apologising as some clients have been doubled charged this month.

The message says ...Charging you DOUBLE (when its TRIPPLE)
the message has been on for 6 days and Im still getting charged 3x

Whatever the problem is - they are taking their sweet time to STOP charging us while they are aware of the problem.

Do you know that I waited 25 minutes to speak to a live human at Virgin- then another 10 minutes to speak to the ONLY 1 SINGLE manager that is in the entire country available. Virgin has 1 manager in the entire country people to handle telephone complaints on 123.

like the alchoholic said ... I can stop this habit if I want ... but I just dont want to...
