I downloaded openoffice from tucows.saix.net this afternoon in Weaverly Pretoria, The download on the UTD was at 84 KBPS (13min for 64MB) and the download on the notebook with th UTC was 24 KBPS, right next to each other. Both had good signals, why would this happen? :confused:

The signal strength from UTD to base-station would be stronger than UTC to the same bs, this due to the antenna on the UTD being better than UTC. Weak signal from UT to bs will result in packets being lost - when you are downloading something ACKs will be lost on the upload, that will result in retransmissions on the download, and a longer time to download, hence lower speed.</IMO>
