Don't think so - they seem have inflated egos of late and there seems big expectations from them, which may end up being their downfall.
SA shall emerge victorious!

Not so sure about Pakistan - they just haven't had enough cricket in any form in the last few years.
India, SA and never discount Australia.

Yea i have to discount the aussies, i just don't think they have much talent at the moment, have not yet seen the teams they will field but Sa and India have to be the favorites for this tournament i reckon.
The amount of talent in both teams is just amazing i think. Cannot wait for this though, my life seems worse not turning the projector on when i get home and watching t20 :(.

Aussie squad: http://content.cricinfo.com/wt202009/content/squad/402963.html
Aus and SA were2-2 in the T20s in Australia and SA recently - and that was Aussie teams that didn't have Watson, Lee or Symonds.

SA and India for me. Aus while on paper have a good side with the exception of symonds and lee the others have had very little cricket . Had they had the likes of hayden, gilly, warne, ect who have been slugging it out in the IPL I would have feared them but I just can't see a side with so little preparation beating in form players. India and SA and to a lesser extent Sri lanka must fancy themselves.
AirWolf
29-05-2009, 06:03 AM
2 of the best batsmen in the IPL were retired Australians. They should have seriously considered a recall of Hayden and Gilchrist. The dream opening pair :).
killadoob
29-05-2009, 07:25 AM
Yea i would have recalled them, hayden was immense. Gilly well he either goes big or goes home so you either get off to an amazing start or your looking at 20 odd for 1 :p

with this format "favourites" mean nothing - even the Windies can beat anyone if things go their way.
All it takes is 2-3 overs of luck!

30-05-2009, 09:30 AM
No silk i don't think so, when you have power houses like SA and India with quality through-out the team you have favourites, no doubt anything can happen but when you have the quality these 2 team have you have to be favourites.
No good having 2 quality players and hope they getting going, look at SA team dude OMG it is insane.

You really think SA has it to win the tournament? We all know they are serial chokers in big games . And never under-estimate the Australians, it just might come back to haunt you :p
killadoob
30-05-2009, 09:39 AM
No we are chokers no doubt but i think we have so much talent we can easily win this, never right off the aussies for sure but there is no doubt the aussies are struggling in terms of quality.
They have very few good bowlers, batsmen do not give me any confidence but we will see shortly :)

Krycor i know this may sound silly hey and i may get a lot of stick here but is there nothing in your life you could cut out to afford dstv?
I mean it is only 500 bucks a month, surely you can find that money and skip a weekend of going out or cut back or something man, i only say this because wow the sport dstv carries is just amazing man. Sure 500 bucks is a lot but think about all the sport you get :p
Most pubs will have the games for sure.

2. I am unemployed still after graduating exactly a year ago minus 12 days.
3. Even if pt 1 and 2 were not there, i cannot justify R500 on someething like tv, heck if i moved out tomorrow, got paid a lot etc, a tv would not be on the top of my list of thngs to get.. dstv is way down the list.
4. I don't drink.(bar's uhm.. yah not sure they'd want me there if i don't buy anything)
5. Only thing i could possibly cut out is a kidney.. but then thats illegal in SA i believe.

http://content.cricinfo.com/wt202009/content/story/406918.html
Each team will play the other in its group during the preliminary round and the top two will qualify for the Super Eights. What this means is that either Bangladesh or Ireland, or both, are assured of a place in the second stage, while one of Australia, Sri Lanka and West Indies will crash out after round one, leading to the possibility of another group of death in the next World Twenty20, in the Caribbean in 2010.
Shouldn't that be 2011 as the last one was in 2007?
Edit1:
Farking hell - WTF happened to the cricinfo site?

122/3 after 12 overs. They doing really well:).
But this is just a warm up game so there isn't as much pressure, I think.
Edit:
Australia 219/6 (20/20 ov)
Bangladesh 133/4 (13.3/20 ov)
Bangladesh require another 87 runs with 6 wickets and 39 balls remaining

Yeah, they have been steady at +/- 10 rpo for the entire innings.
The required run rate a bit too high now >15rpo.

But that is just the point - these were not proper batsmen and the umpiring should be in that context to give each team a fair chance.

True but sachin wouldn't have allowed 4 dot balls like that. He would moved over to offside if he saw what broad is trying to do. Also the umpire probably would have called a wide had it been a big name player on strike.
