Looking at the 285GTX’s performance, we can see that for its price, it offers improvements in every area over the 280GTX. In fact, we’d go as far as saying that the 285GTX is the card that the 280 should have been. Does this mean you should trade your 280 in for a 285? Certainly not, but when looking at upgrading to a high-end card, and more specifically the best single-GPU high-end card available at the moment, there is no question: the 285GTX will top that list in any scenario.

hmm...
OK, so nVidia released this 285 and it's a bit better than the 280GTX (Prev KING).
the thing is....
ATI released the 4890, also better than the 4870X2(Prev KING)
But, how much more money does the 285GTX cost above a 280GTX ?
Because, uh...the 4890 is like half the price of the 4870X2 ? ie: DIRT CHEAP for that kinda performance.

Well i don't see how a 4890 is better than a 4870x2 in all honesty.

It isn't. Perhaps he meant the 4870.
