At least some things are more expensive in the USA than it is over here:

Virgin Mobile USA has announced pay-as-you-go 3G data bundles at $60/GB. Works out to R482.40/GB at today's exchange rate.

Vodacom's more expensive 'advanced' bundle costs R389/GB.

When you work on a farm in the USA. You earn 10 US $ (free water/housing/electricity) per hour. Thats 800rand per day for un-educated labour without expenses or income tax.

Overall you'll see that 400 Rand is stil alot cheaper if you look at what their salaries can be.

Plus them Americans have faster and cheaper internet on land terrestrial lines, so I doubt one would even use a cellular tower 24/7 with slower speeds.
