Can I ask how you rate the E1000 phone?

ghostim,

I assume you've loaded the modem drivers that came with the phone and therefore you can connect.

When the modem connects what does the connection speed show in the system tray? This normally default to 115K. If so, go to your modem settings and choose a modem speed higher than 384K, 460800 is setting normally used.

If this does not help, rather PM me a contact number and I'll get someone to call you and go through all the settings.

Vodacom3g : that is the problem : M$ XP dont allow me to up the speed more 115k. Think I'll spend the evening to get the whole shebang working under Linux.

I'm not impressed. Battery life sux, its flimsy, you sim card gets damaged by the sim slot and the menu system is no good. Still use my trusty brick (Nokia 9210i) for everyday use, support etc. Only took the E1000 in December as an upgrade because no datacards were available.

ghostim,

I don't have a problem setting the max speed on my XP notebook. If you want, contact me and we can figure out why yours is stuck.

Have you seen the link on this forum on how to set it up under Linux.

Agree on E1000 battery life. Heard rumours of a better battery for the unit. Will investigate.

As a die-hard Nokia user, it took me some time to get used to the menu on the E1000, but I don't battle anymore. It's going to be a while before we see a Nokia 3G phone, so hang in with the E1000.
