Hi :)

Does anyone know when World of Warcraft is coming to South Africa or how to purchase the game outside south africa so that we can create an account on the American Servers? I have been playing on the beta servers of Korea and Europe but that didn't last long.

Plz Reply.... Desperate to play the game

Best you quit now while you aren't totally and hopelessly addicted. I have a friend in UK who spends 9 hours a day playing. He's lost weight and stopped going outdoors. Wouldn't want a mybroadband member going down that way too.. I've heard you need an American bank account to play.

I play on european servers, they have accepted my SA credit card, that said I am still in my 1 month free period. Will keep you updated. Beware though the latency has gone to pot recently, so maybe take Gaz's advice b4 it's too late. :p

Log on to gundam.za.ethereal.web.za with your IRC client and join #tfrwow. They running a nice free, local WoW server with around 120 players atm. Just ironing out the bugs as they go along.

I think the mods should edit your post - it is illegal to do such activity.

Yes WoW could turn out to be just as addictive as Ultima Online is yet I suppose it could keep one out of mischief and also will save you money as whenever you go out you spend spend and spend some more. As long as you keep a normal lifestyle such as working from 8 - 5 everyday then come home and clean up your place, cook some supper then nail some WoW you shouldn't really run into any trouble. However when you do get addicted to this game or any game for that matter, you tend to not get other important things done. Make sure you get those important things done before you start hitting the game.

There is a local server which is hosting WoW called The Forgotten Realm or TFR. To connect to this server you will need to get a free account. This can be done by joining #the_forgotten_realm on snow.shadowfire.org in IRC and asking for one. Once you have the account you may need to modify a few things in your WoW folder (add a few script files here and there as well as some patches). Ask around in the channel for directions to a website explaining further as to how your game needs to be modified in order to play on TFR.

Good luck and don't get toooo addicted ;)

I disagree Dominic, you might as well be saying that the mods delete all of the wifi threads seeing as what theyre doing is illegal.
I for one tried 2 of the many local servers popping up but they are just too laggy and buggy.
After running around Kalimdor for about 6hrs and finding NOTHING but scenery, I realised it was probably the most wasted time of my life ever... Just because its free and local doesnt mean to say its enjoyable.

120 people in TFRWoW running around doing nothing? I'm sure its better than that :P As for the lag, surely they wont play if the lag is too great. Any people from TFRWoW who wish to clarify this?

Im afraid I cant assure anything from the TFR realm but playing on the others there were:
a) little or no quests
b) little or no skills available (or ones that worked)
c) could not group with other players, therefore no exp sharing
d) kept getting kicked out of the game

If anything it was like sitting in IRC but with some eye-candy

My Lifestyle and routines:

School everyday Mon-Fri from 8:00-2:30, do homework if I have any. Depending on the Wind, i go for a surf after school.
I get home then sit on my pc for +- 2 hours, doing facebook, mail, myadsl and sometime WOW.
Weekends: Go to the beach at 6:30AM.
Surf for about 1-3 hours (depending how the waves is and the wind--East wind make the waves awful)

I really play WOW seldomly mostly only if i dont have anythin else to do, like writing this :p.

Hi everyone, some of you guys may know REAPER-X mangos forums and the cool uploads they have to create your own server,

Well these guys have there own server up and running, and they have just started so the population is still low but that's why i am posting here so for any who are interested.

The site is http://www.wowaddicts.info/. just take a look at it its so much fun and GM,s are so helpful they even fix quests, as i have seen on savortex that the gm,s didn't even fix the quests anymore, and also i see that vortex doesn't exist anymore. Just try this one out guys its so much fun.

Well, I have heard a rumour that we will soon link a local server to the Pretoria Wireless Network. PTAWUG.

That means that all the ppl connected to this free network in Pretoria, Centurion and Jo'burg will have access to a local WOW server... and the bandwidth is for free!!!!! and latency will be well below 100ms!!!

:)
